I watched this last night. It was excellent - informative, relaxing and inspirational. It was just the tonic for my Flu woes.
My garden and I live in South Wales.

If I had one criticism it would be, ( and I’m probably opening a can of worms here ) but why do people who have lived in the UK for twenty years or more still don’t speak English?
Probably for the same reason many people living in the ex-pat enclaves in Spain etc don't speak Spanish.  They spend all their time in their own community and don't interact much with the locals.

I thought it was a brilliant programme, very informative  and not in any way “religious Mumbo jumbo”.
The gardens and buildings were magnificent, and the items about the garden centres and allotments really interesting. Well worth a watch on catch up, if you haven’t seen it.
  • I'm watching it now and I think it makes a nice change from Long Meadow.   That temple garden is glorious!

Have to admit I did FFD through the Man with the Stupid Hat's bit.   He makes my fist itch.

Joe Swift ... he's the son of Mr. Hyacinth Bouquet (actor Clive Swift https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clive_Swift )

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

  • I think the people featured probably do speak English but they chose to use their first language so they could express themselves better.

The man had a job so I assume he needs to use English at work, though there are communities around Birmingham where you could get by without speaking English.

I know of a few people who live abroad and haven't made any effort to learn the language so it's not unique to the UK.

This is the first episode that I have deleted. I love GW for tips and tricks. This was fine, but did not relate to my garden which looks like a forgotten Christmas party as it always does in late August.

  • Agree with KT53. I went to sleep watching it
I much prefer Beachgrove now as I find it informative and at times funny.
