A bit of perspective. ...

Having read some of the arguments on this forum I just wanted to draw attention to the recent news story "hothouse earth". Although climate change isn't a new issue, it seems ever more pressing.  All of us on this forum are gardeners, and we have a vital role to play - even our smallest patch of garden will be a little step against pollution and co2 emissions. I'm sure we all do our bit with recycling, encouraging wildlife, storing water etc too.
I just wanted to remind everyone to see the bigger picture and carry on gardening!
And that's where I'm off too now 🌱🌳🌲

My pitifully small patch of garden will do little to save the planet when the elected president of the USA and his supporters don't believe in climate change. I take a tiny step to reduce my impact on the planet and the same day Trump stamps on it with a heavy boot. Here's the article by the way.

My garden will do very little as well, I have 2 children, they have 2 each, they will all want cars and foreign holidays,  the only way is to cut population.
From my OH’s family they have 13 cars and the young ones are growing up.
We are all responsible for this.

At least it seems that the louder Trump denounces climate change the louder the evidence to contradict him is becoming. He may end up scoring a home goal with his, hopefully short, time in office.

It's a shame though because we need more politicians with his conviction. I'd rather have him dealing with Brexit than any of the limp wristed wastes of skin we've currently got.

I agree with you @wild edges........regardless of your opinion of the man, his politics, actions, decisions etc. I do admire his conviction and tenacity

Surely conviction stems from being convinced by the evidence ... anything else is arrogant self-belief isn't it?

Is tenacity the same as willful stubbornness or is there a difference ....

Or am I just cynical ......

  • He has no convictions.   He believes whatever the last person he spoke to told him.  And as he surrounds himself with yes-men and dismisses anything he doesn't agree with as Fake News, it just reinforces his own view.   He is owned by Putin and sold out America so has no integrity.  He is unintellectual, anti-science and as thick as pig poo.   He is narcissistic, self-obssessed and vain.  No loyalty, no faith, no common sense.

Brexit is bad enough now, I dread to think how much worse it could be with him in charge.

@Dovefromabove and @LauraRoslin .............I meant regardless of his actions/thoughts I do admire how he delivers them with great conviction and tenacity.
Merriman-Webster: Tenacity = courage, resolution, firmness of mind and will in the face of danger or extreme difficulty.  Conviction = with strong belief.  I didn't say I agreed with him on anything.
