    Hi @RubyRoss 🙂 please don’t feel bad ... it wasn’t your comment about the concept of ‘naffness’ ... there was someone else making the statements which cause the responses you referred to ...  various people complained to the Mods about deliberately argumentative behaviour and now all her posts have disappeared which means that her account must’ve been closed. It makes the thread seem a bit disjointed but there’s nothing can be done about that.
    So don’t worry ... you’ve not upset anyone ... and yes, on this forum threads often diverge and meander around a subject. I often think it’s a bit like a good pub conversation where we can agree or disagree as long as we do it in a pleasant and friendly way.
    So I hope you’ll enjoy this forum, make some friends, and do lots of chatting about gardening and all the other stuff we witter on about from time to time 😀

    @RubyRoss welcome to the forum.
    There are a few threads  like hello forkers  and curmudgeon' s corner  and resurrected where topics  twist and turn. Each has its own flavour - see if you like any if them
    Threads often go off piste  and some members get piste off especially when we can't get out to play in the garden;)

    So true B3. When you're out there doing things you don't have time to worry about anything else, not even Brexit  :)

    @RubyRoss, Welcome from me too.
    As can so easily happen, one might think comments are aimed at one person or another and it's easily to take things personally. Don't be put off , we're ( overwhelmingly ) a nice bunch.

    Phew, that’s a relief. I assumed it had to be me because I couldn’t see any other critical comments.

    Thanks so much for the welcoming replies!

    Yours weren't critical @RubyRoss ... yours were just fine  :D

    Welcome aboard  :)

    Hello and welcome from me too, @RubyRoss

    It takes a while to get a feel for the spirit of a forum, and whilst folks do occasionally express strong opinions. it’s never meant to personally criticise another individual or denigrate their contribution - with the exception of the argumentative person whose posts have been removed. Im pretty new here too, but have found it a fantastically helpful, supportive learning environment as well as a place to enjoy friendly banter and occasional silliness too. Enjoy!

    @Nollie was it you who said you dislike "coral" coloured flowers? If so, Can I try to convert you with this canna?

    I have some Gladdies like that, teamed with some vicious pink Dahlias, look fab, or naff, depending on your view.

  • My 'naff' plant is the Jerusalem sage, it was in the garden when we moved in. The reason is loads of massive leaves, and the yellow flowers always look half dead even when newly flowered, I always look at it and sigh 🙄 I really must do something with it 😁
