I guess a lot of our likes/dislikes are generational? There are always going to be things that are in vogue for the majority... and then we should wonder do the plantsmen who sell us these plants set trends or respond to them... ?
My 80+ year old Mum asked me to get her some begonias for her pots, and at the checkout, I mentioned that I wasn't too keen on them, but they were for my Mum. The lady serving (about my age, I'd say) said her Mum too liked them, though she agreed with me.
Personally, I too am not keen on yellows, or oranges (except in the 'hot' dahlia bed), but I do love roses. And I love all kinds of pinks and purples. More about colours than plants for me, I think.
I think I've previously spoken of my loathing for Aucuba japonica ... to me it just looks hideous ......... apart from that I don't think I dislike any plants ... but it does depend on the style of the garden and how the plants are combined ... there are a lot of plants that don't suit my style of gardening, but they look great in other gardens.

I have a Brachyglottis senecio/sunshine (I don't know it's common name, I didn't even know what it was until I've just Googled it) that I'm trying hard to like but I just don't. I think it just looks forever scruffy and the flowers look a bit weed like and quickly turn from yellow to brown, at which point I hack at it again. I keep meaning to dig it out and maybe train it as a large bonsai type thing as it's trunk is very gnarly etc. And also a jasmine (I think) with insignificant yellow flowers that is just a twiny mess; I've hacked it back right down to the floor but I expect it will sprout back from that.
Cannot abide alstroemerias I think they look fake but my mother and daughter love them so have ordered some bare root plants to nurture for them. Hope hubby doesn't spot them he loves them too!
