Will it go with my gin?

Several of these bushes loaded with this fruit behind my house, is it a sloe ? If not what is it please.

    Looks a bit big for a sloe, maybe damson gin (even better!!)

    Thanks for rapid response, it does smell almost plum like but before I poison myself really need a positive I.D. But if it were damson yummy, 2 minute reply do you think anyone can do better🏃‍♂️

    Damson Gin recipe
    Loads of sloes grow around here - they're EXTREMELY bitter even when ripe
    Damsons are sweet and delish

    Damson for me too.   Makes great damson gin especially if you can keep it a few years when it becomes liqueur-like.   Otherwise, damson jam/chutney/pies/crumble/cobbler......

    Does anyone know how to make rhubarb gin? Sans ginger - an abomination!

    Damson Gin is lovely stuff. I had loads after last years good harvest. I made more Damson jam. I made damson gin and damson chutney. Then I made more chutney from the Damsons which had been marinating in the gin. 
    I am planning on some rhubarb gin.
    I think they are sloes they seem smaller and rounder than damsons . 


    Ingredients for Damson Gin:

    • 1 lb Damsons
    • 1lb sugar
    • 1 bottle of gin (750ml is you like it syrupy, 1 litre if you like less syrupy- both work ok).

    Method for Damson Gin:

    1. Prick damsons, put into a clean sterilised glass container that can be sealed. (Demi Johns are perfect)
    2. Add sugar and shake every day until the sugar is very pink.
    3. Add gin, shake and store in a dark place. Turn and swill fruit around once a day until sugar has dissolved then leave and shake occasionally.
    4. After 3 months, strain and bottle.
    5. Damsons usually ready in September which means gin is ready for bottling just before Christmas.

    That does sound interesting...........Damson Gin.  I thought you would just plonk a damson in the gin like you would an olive, if you like it that way
