lily - you don't have to read it - that's the point. There are loads of threads I don't read - gardening related or otherwise   :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Some of us maybe recently bereaved.

Lily, with respect, some of us are recently bereaved, and that's what can make it even more interesting and relevant. End of life comes to us all. Every one.

I have decided to remove myself from this forum which is a shame given its useful and mainly enjoyable content. I understood it was a gardening forum, this is inappropriate and very upsetting to have to view this discussion each time I log on to read about all things gardening. Some of us maybe recently bereaved .
Forgive me @lily6, but methinks there's a clue to the content in the thread title:

"Very interesting discussion on End of Life care - join us"

We gardeners have many strings to our collective bows.
Some threads are of interest to many, some to only a few.
You can choose from TV programmes to watch, recipes, pets and lots of other Non gardening threads, you're welcome to join in, or ignore. That's the beauty of it.

I’m only skim-reading and catching up on the forum this evening. Am I missing something with this thread to join another thread?

The other thread wasn't bumping, so we started a new one.

For what it's worth, imposing religion on kids seems to me to be incredibly unfair and the only way this mumbo-jumbo continues.

Let people think rationally on their 18th birthday (or the equivalent majority in other countries) about the religion they want to follow.  None will bother.  It's of no use in the modern world.  We're all spiritual, but this stuff is Man-Made and long past its sell-by.

This is an interesting programme on sitting with a parent at the end of life. It may be only listenable to in the UK, not sure. The Vigil, Radio 4

I do think forums can be a daunting and confusing place for people who are new to them. Discussions and tempers can lurch all over the place and the anonymity tends to make users much brassier than they would be in person. The language/syntax is terser and the guiding rules of conversation unclear. The strange and unexpected tends to pop up all over the place. It can feel a very alien world and way of conversing, favouring those who are old hands and comfortable with new tech.

I remember first joining the Guardian forum. I was absolutely horrified by the antagonism and attacking tone shown on the threads. and Youtube. I don't look at either any more.

I know what it’s like to sit alone with parents until they died.
