A day uninterrupted in my art room, painting and listening to Enigma,Mendelsohn and Debussy. Bliss!

My OH has just come home with 2 bags of pure horse poo, for me that’s pure joy, couldn’t wish for a better present.

  • Once in a while, waking up pain free and feeling ready to take on the day.

Wandering around my garden, deadheading at nearly dusk.

Looking at the view from the bottom my garden.

Call me weird, but I sigh with pleasure the first time I use my own toilet after being away from home for any length of time.

But there are also downsides. On ‘Quote, Unquote’ on R4 some while ago I heard someone lament that going on holiday’s all very well but when you come back your dishcloth is as stiff as buckram.

Simple pleasures for me at the moment are finally getting rid of the yellowing daffodil leaves, a fine harvest of leaf mould, having an evening glass of wine on the terrace and hearing nothing but birdsong, getting about ten correct answers on University Challenge tonight, reassembling the dining room after the decorator has been in all week, and looking forward to meeting my friends in Italian Club tomorrow.

My first ripe tomato of the year. Lots more to come. Six pots of Gardeners Delight and a lttle sport tomato plant that was in a border with the day lillies. I get the plants from a local grower who produces very sturdy plants to grow on.
I really enjoy nurturing them. I doubt if I save any money by doing it but "I grew them"
Apologies for typos. I haven't got my glasses on now.

Everybody, It's amazing how many of your simple pleasures I can relate to. Life isn't so bad as the news would have us believe when you look at the little things that give us pleasure.
That being said, a thread to moan on is available ;)
    In London. Keen but lazy.
