I agree with Punkdoc... the age of the expert is immaterial.  The best vet in our local practice is the young, recently-qualified girl who spends plenty of time examining our cat, and hasn't forgotten what she learnt in order to qualify.

On the other hand, experience and common sense are also useful...

It really annoys me when people complain they've "had enough of experts".  I don't see them employing the local plumber to do their heart transplant operation.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Wish I could knit, those yarns are such pretty colours.

I wish it would rain again here to keep things going before this next heatwave that's forecast.

Plumber came round this morning with a tractor and a fork lift thingy and 2 strong young men. They have put the new boiler in the boiler room next to the old one. Will be coming to install it tomorrow, probably.

This morning I went to see our family Notaire again to sort out a few points about buying and selling English and French houses. As it was in town I tried on a few dresses and tops in the sales. One shop had some very pretty things and I bought 2 dresses and a top. Top was 60% off. The autumn stuff is coming in and I'm glad to see that dresses are a bit longer. For the last couple of years in France they've all been above the knee. I prefer below the knee now that I'm 27.

Off to water the pots. At least we don't have a hosepipe ban - yet.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Evening. Been running a course all day so bushed now. This was for the brand new doctors, who start tomorrow, - and they looked so young (or is it because I am so much older?!). They were part excited and part terrified - quite right too.
Just inspected the garden after not venturing out since Friday. No major casualties and Sweet Peas flowering their socks off, Anemones budding, plus the African Daisies putting on a second flush. Tons of apples on the floor, however, so hope there is enough left for actually picking.
Hope all is well with all Forkers - have a pleasant evening.
My garden and I live in South Wales.

    That's lovely, Dove.
I'm currently knitting a teddy bear for our grandson - a copy of "Fatty", the bear knitted for OH in 1946 by a family friend.  Fatty already has a relation, knitted 40 years ago for my son (grandson's dad).   :)
You'll have the PC brigade on your doorstep for calling the bear that, Liri!  :D
I think some of the heart surgeons might do a  better job of the plumbing an'  all - couldn't be any worse than the tvat that did my boiler....
Ferdiddling down here and has been for most of the afternoon. Lovely and warm though, Hosta -  14 degrees and windy  :D
Glad it's all going well LG. Exciting but worrying - depending on the point of view   :)
Pat - I think it's fidget that has the eucalyptus  :)
Pie sounds good- it would warm me up.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Hi All no rain and the local paper reckons on more weather from EL NiNo which has bought us the drought we are in now.I am just about getting my get up and go back as the flu and bronchatia laid me flat for 3 weeks. I had a nice suprise in the garden today the first of my snowdrops are out, suprised they came with no water. Pat it is cold in the morning but warms up then drops cold again in the evening.

@Fairygirl I've just had to give up cutting the grass as my hands are so cold they're painful.  17C here ( ie freezing ) I hope it's warmer tomorrow so I can finish it before our guests arrive on Thursday.

You need a herd of sheep Hosta.... ;)
I think my grass might be long enough to cut in another week or so  :D

I've had sheep in the past, but they're not very organised at cutting it all to the same length.

I do actually enjoy cutting it, even if it does take several hours, but the sun was going down and my hands got too cold.
Right, get me on Masterchef. I've put food in the oven. !!!
