That sounds interesting. I could have done with it a few years ago but as I'm going a bit deaf, I don't really need it now. The world is a noisy place these days and I only use my hearing aids as a tool when necessary. I'm not sure that I would really want my full hearing back. It would certainly make me even more curmudgeonly!
Technically it's illegal to modify your car to be louder so if he keeps it up he'll be getting a reminder from the police of why you don't wake your neighbours up at 4am. Or expanding foam up the exhaust from one of our other neighbours who isn't as law abiding as myself.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
I have just discovered the delights of ciabatta garlic bread - bit late to the party on the garlic bread thread. But tis a joy. But feeling a bit more grumpy than usual having just spent the last couple of hours cleaning my soon to be departed oven/s (giving it to someone hence the deep clean!). And my back is still sore from Monday's escapades..........................

I'd have thought a well-directed potato would solve the noisy exhaust problem. Wear rubber gloves to avoid leaving finger prints.
Having come home to the quiet of the country, I slept so well last night I'm shattered as it wasn't quite enough to make up for what I missed last week in Namur whilst moving my daughter. Being tired makes me grumpy.

Although I'm a literacy tutor and it's my trade to teach spelling, so long as the meaning is clear, I don't see why correct spelling matters. I think it's a bit like legalese, used to exclude. Unfortunately, the ability to spell often used as a yardstick to judge intelligence so I help people to avoid unconventional and creative spelling. But, personally, I am much more interested in what a person has to say than the way that they have spelt it.
B3, I agree - up to a point. But there's a sort of pride in not caring about spelling and grammar which I dislike. On another forum I follow, some threads are really hard to understand because contributors are (intentionally, apparently) totally uncaring about the way they express themselves, and abusive of anyone innocently trying to find out what they mean, when what they've said is ambiguous. I'm suspicious that these are the same people who, on a different thread in that forum, argue that they should never be expected to obey the speed limit through our town, for instance, nor accept any recognised authority, or listen to experts.
