Annoying Neighbours

So. I return from work. Beautiful day here today. I'll sit in the garden with something cold and fizzy and chill out. But no. 'Gepetto' next door (my nickname for him) is in his metal monstrosity of a shed making yet more planters/an arbor/fence panels/a bench (delete as appropriate). He can't do this quietly or quickly. He has every power tool known to man in there. Power saws, routers, sanders. He uses them regularly and with relish. He makes his things (taking weeks to produce something that would take anybody else a day or two). Makes wonderful complicated joints and angles. Then installs them in the garden, unmaintained. He will then return to them next year to fix them. Maybe make something else. Either way i have to sit here listening to his power saw, then the sander. Then the router. Sander again. Then repeat ad infinitum until 8-9 o'clock at night. Always in summer. Always on nice days. He really annoys the hell out of me! Aaaaargggh!!

So anyone else have this?

There's much worse things could be going on next door ... dogs barking  at everyone who walked past from dawn until dusk drove me mad.  Constant loud arguing from the couple next door at another house was awful, as were the really obnoxious law students we had next door for two years (thankfully student neighbours don't last for ever). our

Gepetto is happy but apparently you're not and that's a shame.  If you really can't bear it then perhaps you should give serious consideration to moving house so you can have the peace you need to enjoy your garden :/:smile:

There's an ambulance outside our neighbour's house as I type ... he's a nice elderly chap with visiting carers.  He can't get about much.  Hope he's ok.  One day he won't be.  Wonder who we'll get next door then ...............?

Edited to add:   Phew!!!    :)   the ambulance appears to have gone away without him ... probably he'd taken a tumble and they had to get him up and stay with him a while to check him over.
His carers have gone too ... they'll be back later.

Much better than the thump thump thump of a garden trampoline.
i have a son who likes to work out. Weighs and punch bag and often another lad holding some sort of pad which he kicks and punches against. Bring a nice summer all his equipment has been moved from the garage to the garden but I made him move the whole lot to the side patio away from the neighbours as not everyone wants to hear the continuous thumping or grunting.

Yes, there's always at least one neighbour like that isn't there unfortunately.. Like Dove we have the constant dog barking (day and evening - he even has a 'dog flap') & parties most weekends with screaming teenagers and young adults - the parents join in the fun. With that said, everyone else is considerate and friendly around here.

I used to have a neighbor that seemed to burn garbage every nice day.. always the days I had my asthmatic baby's laundry out on the line drying.  Not owning a dryer, it really was a pain rewashing everything then drying it indoors on racks.

Now I have a backyard neighbor that loves to fly a drone all around.  I've been tempted to spray it down with the hose while watering.. the whining noise drives me crazy.

I sympathize with you.. but appreciate your neighbors right to do his DIY.  (Just as I grit my teeth and refrain from spraying my neighbors drone).  It's the problem with living in suburbia.

Trampolines with children who scream and yes I have had 3 children. We moved a few years back and I found the satellite view on Google very helpful!

Not only do you get the thump thump thump with a trampoline but you also have various heads and body parts keep appearing over the fence.

i think most of us having something which annoys our neibours but a good neighbor will try to minimise how their life might effect the people living around them.

i smoke in my garden which I know could effect my neibours so I endure I am well away from their fence and any washing they might have out.

My OnH has a selection of power tools in his shed. He spends most weekends in there making all sorts of things.  He never uses any power tools before 9am and always has them turned off before 5pm. Unlike the neighbours with their music.
