I appreciate the sentiment but I can't find any cases of cats scratching their own eyes due to chili just people regurgitating the same 'fact' in various places online with no evidence to support it. I can find plenty of cat eye injury cases caused by fighting with other cats, encounters with dogs or caused by spiky plants though.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
Ian, if you see something offensive, feel free to report it to the moderators. Click on the 'flag' on the bottom of their comment, then select report. You can type a message direct to a mod. Mod is not God.. they are not all seeing beings.. they depend on you to report or flag problems, issues, and offensive material.
I think this forum is finely moderated, and is far better than any other social media I've seen.
If you are offended by cat discussions.. feel free to avoid them in future.
MMM - Pleased that your methods have worked but definitely a mistake to advocate chili given cat grooming behaviour. Even dogs lick and chew their paws to groom them.
I have two dogs and 2 cats and no problems with poop - litter tray for the cats and scoop for the dogs. However, like changing babies, it's not something you want to do for other people's cat and dog mess.

When I saw the title of this new discussion "No more cats..." I thought this was an official announcement banning the ongoing cat discussions, photos of cats, etc. from the GW gardening forum. Alas my joy was short-lived.
I have however a plea for cat lovers; please refrain from posting photos of your cats (or dogs) on such discussions as the Garden Gallery which are devoted to pics of gardens, plants, flowers. There is a thriving pet companions thread (157 pages to date!) where those photos will be welcome by pet lovers ... and ignored by people of my ilk.
And I've said this before, this is where this forum needs far stronger moderation...which at the moment (and I'm sorry to say this) is pretty weak IMO.
Which to the cynical could be translated as far too many people being allowed to post opinions and ideas with which you don't agree.
