I know there are some phone apps that let you make quizzes for yourself. You could take some photos, and use one of these if you're good with tech to help you learn some of the names and details? Or just print them out and make flashcards by writing on the back.
I downloaded an app called Name the plant and has multiplechoice answers to what the plant is. 4 plants are shown with 4 different names that the plant could be, the answrs are given at the end. I have been googling images of Gazania which Gazania came up on the app and i got the name wrong so im looking at images to memorize the shape and leaf shape. Should i look at images of plants that are shown on the app? Gazania have long thin leaves yes?/
You can grow them all in gardens the UK, but only the Hedera (which is ivy) and the Convallaria (Lily of the Valley) grow here naturally without protection.
All the others come from warmer countries and need frost-free protection in a British winter.

Ashley, I like your dedication to learning about plants. I hardly know anything, but the way I'm learning is by learning about families of plants in the first instance. E.g. can you recognise a rhododendron? How do rhododendrons grow well? What about hardy geraniums? And so on.
Once you know the basics of different families, you can start learning details about all of the varieties that make up the family, e.g. which varieties flower early/late, which can cope with more/less sun etc.
Like anything, I would suggest you start by learning about plants that interest you.
Ashley it doesn't matter if all of the plants on your app are not British. Plants which come from many different countries are sold in garden centres and grown in our gardens.

I'm not getting anywhere with my plant app. I want to recognize plants by playing the quiz on my app and then searching for an image of a particular plant on google but it's not working. At the moment i've got a list from my app of
Daylily
(Calico Jack)
Dahlia
Peony (lactiflora)
Phlox
Doronicum
(Little Leo)
Syringa
(Common Lilac)
I'm trying to remember what each one looks like. What would you suggest would be a way of learning and how would i go about it?
Could you make some 'playing cards' with pictures of the plants stuck on ... and then you could play a sort of Snap! ... only calling out the name of the plant instead of saying Snap!
