Oh dear, I've cultivated a weed!

I've just realised that a largish plant I thought was a Francoa and which I've been carefully nurturing in my main border, is in fact a weed. It's tiny yellow flowers are just opening today instead of the pink spires I was expecting. I'd had my doubts earlier in the year but couldn't quite remember what the Francoa leaves were like and it was growing in the same spot carefully supported by a nice black iron hoop.
I feel such a fool and will have to dash to the GC for something tall to take its place!

I think l may have done something similar - l potted up what l thought were geum divisions, but l have a feeling they may be weeds. Will need to get a photo tomorrow to get an opinion!

I've been very carefully cultivating mask flowers, from seed, which turned out to be FMNs seedlings. I guess the originals didn't germinate.  #Gutted!

I grew three spindle trees from seed. Well actually it was two spindles and a goat willow. Took me ages to notice [embarrassed emoji]

We've all done it.  My dad nurtured a rosebay willow herb in the hope it would turn out to be something exotic.  And I was delighted when I got carrot seeds to germinate for the first time in my life.  Though I wondered why some of them weren't quite where I'd sown them.  Fumitory.

It reminds me of being five, when I tried to persuade my parents I'd found a coal mine in the back yard.

What do you think? Hope the photo is clear enough - i thought these were geums, but now I'm not so sure ! There are tiny yellow flowers just starting to appear on the right hand one.
