Haha. Me neither, everything I picked up at Dobbies was blue!....I had to put one or two back and switch to some lilacy/pinky colours to lighten things a tad.

I just might have the perfect little spot I could pop one of those into (assuming it would be happy enough with a little less sun than the rest of the garden. It could screen off a minor problem area I have, as near as dammit to the perfect height........it's a thought you know. :)

This is a pic of our HF Young a couple of years ago.

We came home from holiday today and the first bud has just opened ...  :)

Mine is in a west facing raised bed, tucked in a bit of a corner by my gate. Doesn't get much sun till later on in the morning as the fence blocks it a bit. The trees shade it from the midday sun too.
'Constance' -  quite a deep, dusky pink. It was flowering in mid to late April last year and into May. Wee bit later this year

Apologies theluciblack- we slightly hijacked your thread ... :*
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Nice. :)  Seeing that pic has definitely got me thinking.

I'd be looking to plant it below a retaining wall (to the one side and train it across). The wall has a rather ugly post fence, with bushes, ivy & weeds that are unsightly.  A lick of white paint on the wall would show it off beautifully and by the looks of it there is plenty of growth at the top to cover the fence if I put a little willow screen up for it to cling to. I may have to source one of them there blue bad boys.

Pretty much a South facing aspect, but it is sheltered under stairs so it's maybe only getting 2-3 hours at most late morning/early afternoon. Do you think it would be ok with that?

Plenty of blue in that pic......never a bad thing. :)

It's actually black TBG [the raised beds, trellis etc] - it might be that I didn't adjust the pic properly!
I think it would be perfectly happy in  that aspect  :)

  • Thanks for the advice @Fairygirl.  It's probably my eyesight that needs adjusting and not the pic. :)

    Apologies for the hijack.
  • Fairy girl - oh god what have I done?! 😱
Ian - nice but I prefer the petals overlapping. The things you realise when you look at a lot of clematis 😆
Bald gardener - NOOOO what have you done to me?! That’s gorgeous! 😍

Blue Angel is blue so is Fujimusume, but they are quite a light blue, Wedgewood type of blue.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • Yeah Wedgwood is good. I really wanted a fujimusume but just couldn’t get one 🙁
