  • Gorgeous piccies!!

I bought HF Young in the end. I just love how starry they are.

But! Blue Onion! Morning glory is a bloody good thought and I do want lots of colour over there, so I might get that too! I’m growing them up a forsythia and it’s pretty big, so good plan 🙂

Dimwit - thats a lovely one, does it have scent? I used to have a shrubby one with small intense blue flowers with a lovely scent back when i lived in kent. I havent seen any of the shrubby ones here yet.

No, it doesn't smell of anything, Bijdezee. The only place I got to make it do anything is in a rather shady place where it gets most cool season sunlight. BTW, is Belgium any warmer by the sea?

I've gotten myself a lovely wee book from a second hand bookshop 'clematis & other climbing plants'. In the inside cover the previous owner has written 'Frankie p12'. I had a look at page 12, any aspect, flowers in April and grows to 8ft. It says its an Alpina cultivar and doesn't require pruning.

A quick google found this pic, it looks quite Blue to me. This could be your next purchase.

    It's a sign I reckon. :)

The alpinas are lovely TBG. Very easy. You can just trim bits or tie them in as and when you please. They prefer slightly drier conditions than some of the bigger ones. Mine is in a raised bed and quite restricted, but it flowers it's socks off through May.
    They have lovely seedheads too.
Warsaw Nike is another nice 'blue' - although it's really purple, which is why I like it -
I don't like 'blue' flowers at all... :D
