The French drink tisanes all the time, and one goes the pharmacy to ask which tea to take for all sorts of ailments. Very similar to Chinese Medecine. Chun Mee Tea is a great soother as is Jasmine.

Yorkshire tea for me. All teas are herbal and most come from plant leaves . I always think the term "herbal tea" is unnecessary. Sorry I should have put this is the Curmudgeon thread.
I will stop being a misery guts :):):):) . have a good day.
The name serves the purpose and people know what I mean. "Tea made from plants that aren't specifically tea plants" isn't such a snappy thread title ;)

Strictly speaking tea is only applied to drinks infused from Camellia sinensis, all other plant beverages are either decoctions or infusions,  a tisane is a specialist infusion with medicinal properties popular in medieval times.

So wild edges do I get my pedant's badge? What does this mean I will be banished to Curmudgeon's corner? OK, I'll go quietly, I'm too hot to argue

Good pedantic knowledge but I'm holding back your badge for not mentioning tinctures. :# I like the word tisane though, I might use that more.

So mean, but you're right. Likely didn't mention it because I have a bad history with alcohol, spirits make me sTick so I generally avoid them. Also a bit specialist even for a home herbalist unless you're a poteen drinker.

I like tisane as well, but then I'm an Agatha Christie fan and I find old Hercules quite fascinating.

Ah in that case you'd be better off with a glycerite. I, on the other hand, quite fancy trying the poteen o:)
