Nettle problem

  • What a lovely bunch you are! I feel right at home already. It is true, some goats do eat wilted nettles. But unfortunetly, not mine. I have tried, even begged! But the goats are not for turning! Sigh, maybe it's the apples and carrots and other delicacies they get everyday. I think I might be going a little bit  wrong somewhere. Thank you for all your comments and advise. I will be trying them one at a time until I find the missing key. It's lovely to talk to you all. I feel more hopeful and positive that I will win this battle with the dreaded nettle. Even if I have to eat them myself! As for the pictures of the goats, where do I post them, PP? 😊

  • Good morning Buttercupdays! I was wondering if you could recommend a grass whip cutter. I am looking at them online, but confused as to which one would be best for my nettles. The reviews can be off putting sometimes. You think you have found the right one, then up pops one out of ten good reviews who says "rubbish" and I'm in a muddle again! I also would like some advise on my house garden. Which part of the furum is the best for questions like that? I hope you are having a lovely weekend in this beautiful sunshine. Kind regards, Jane 🌻

I didn't buy mine, it was given to me by my brother, with other garden tools, when he moved to live in Prague.
It looks most like the most expensive one, by Twenga on ebay, but there's only one left so you'd need to be quick!
You need a longish and comfortable handle and a double sided blade, so that you can change hands.  Single hand working is ok on light stuff, but you get recoil when you hit tougher things that is tiring and I often use both hands to reduce that. And some corners can only be got at from one direction.
Maybe you could try a cheap one first and see how you get on with it?

JJM. I hope you don't mind me shortening your name.  It doesn't really matter if you post your thread in the wrong category,  most people go to the latest threads anyway,  but I would use either garden design, or plants depending the  particular advice you need .

  • Thank you Pauline 7. And I don't mind you shortening my name at all! 😊 If I had thought about it I wouldn't have used my email name but thought of something more interesting. I'm off to a garden centre as we speak. Bliss! But I will be back on the furum to ask a little advise later. I hope you have a lovely day in the sunshine too! Speak to you all soon, after I have filled a trolley with my new plants! 🙏🏼 x
  • Thank you Buttercupdays. Love the name! 😊 Yes, that is the grass whip I was looking at. So I will be buying it later! I have watched a few videos of people using them, and it looks like a good workout too! I might whittle down my waist while solving my nettle problem! Wonderful! Thank you for your reply. It's very kind of you to take the time. I hope you have a lovely day. Jane 💐
