@Justjanemunro :)  Good to meet you ... somehow I missed this thread ... we used to have a smallholding and a herd of dairy goats ... love them ... what sort of goats do you have.  We had mainly Golden Guernseys, a few English Guernseys, a British Saarnan and later on a rescued Toggenburg as well.

  • 😁 Thank you Buttercupdays and Plant Pauper. I think I need to pace myself. I tend to get up and think, HELP! Five million jobs to do! Slight exaggeration there, but I'm sure you know what I mean. I'm going to write down all my options concerning the old orchard land. And research each one. And learn to chill. My goats are great to chill with. So a lot more cuddling and grooming for them, while I ponder the best way forward. So much better than the headless chicken impersonation. That grass whip sounds good. I will googling to see if I can get one. But first, another cup on coffee! 😁 Thank you so much for your kind and helpful comments. 🌻
  • Lovely to meet you too, Dovefromabove. We have three Pygmy goats. Just as pets. I love them dearly. Such beautiful characters. And each one an individual. Sally is so sweet and placid. She would love to groomed all day if she could. Milky Way is a little boy. And can be an excitable Tigre! And Rosie is very shy. Likes her own space, and doesn't like being fussed too much. She is usually on her own. But follows me everywhere when I am gardening. Rosie and Milky were semi feral on the Yorkshire Wolds. So took awhile to get used to me. Goats are such special souls. Beautiful! 💕

    Aww - pygmy goats  <3

A friend of a friend has bagots. My friend told me about them, so I looked them up and have coveted them ever since. I've always thought it would be lovely to have a few goats.

    And a donkey  :open_mouth:

Cromer Town Council is using Bagot goats to browse the scrub that was causing a problem on the cliffs https://www.north-norfolk.gov.uk/news/2017/from-cumbria-to-cromer-goat-herd-size-to-double/

@Justjanemunro did you know that most goats are quite partial to stinging nettles once they've been cut and left to wilt for 24 hours?
