Met up when Mum was 16 at the local dance. Whirlwind romance but then Dad posted to Bornio; letters followed but suddenly stopped from him. Unbeknown to Mum he was hospitalised for 6 months with Malaria. Bitter and angry Mum left work at the laundry in Deal to catch the bus home. Driver said "your fare's been paid for " - she looked up the bus and there was the handsome Gerald sitting on the back seat. Furious, she didn't utter a word, composing her diatribe to deliver to him when she alighted. On leaving the bus he said "Will you marry me?" It would have been their 68th anniversary on 28th January. They were reunited in the ground on 24th February this year xx
We met on the forums of a rock music website. I joined up and made lots of awesome friends, one of them him. Noticed after a while that I was developing feelings for him (which was crazy since we'd never actually met, right?) and assumed that when a load of us got together for a concert and I met him, that'd be the end of it. Wrong, so very very wrong. Long story short, I moved half way up the country and 15 years later he's downstairs making Warhammer 40k models whilst watching FIFA (insert year) videos on YouTube 😆
