I met my wife at a Football awards end of season dance. In my younger days, I played pro amateur for a few teams. This awards night was for a football team that I had played for a few years back, but was invited to attend the night as I had played for them previous. I wasn't going to the awards night as I didn't have a girl friend at the time, basically because of playing football and being away for days. But , I went, and was enjoying the evening, talking to players I had played with and gannet seen for a year or so. As it was a Friday night, I was playing an important game on the next day so I said my fair wells and was heading out dance when a girl I had never met was sitting down on a step and was crying. I wen over to here to ask if she was ok and if there was anything she needed. She explained that she had just been phoned by a friend who told her that her boy friend was at the dance but was with another girl. She did not want to go in to the dance, do I asked her if I could give her a lift home or order a taxi for her. She asked me if I would be kind enough to phone a taxi for her. I waited there with her untill the taxi arrived. The taxi arrived, she thanked me for being so considerate and helping her out with the taxi. I then went to get in to my car and could see the taxi driving off. The taxi was going in the same direction as myself. As I followed the taxi, I thought to myself that I would never see that girl again. The next day, I played my game but got injured with a slight ligament strain. As I could not drive my own car, a fellow player drove me to the local hospital to get it looked at. He left me there at my own request. As I waited to be seen a nurse came over to me to check if I had given all my details over at reception. You guessed it, it was the girl I had met the following night. We have now been married 33 happy years and if I hadn't been injured we would have never probably have met again
We met on a browser computer game, it was a player vs player game where one group fights another group, I was leader of my group and he was the biggest threat to it. So when I saw him pop up in chat one evening I started talking to him. He wanted to Skype with cam.. EEK he said he had a pug puppy to show me, well he actually did (and nothing else) after a a few months of talking he came over to London and met me, and then 6 months later I visited him in Denmark, a year after we met I moved here to live, that was 5 years ago now.
I've loved reading everyone's stories. Joyce, hugs from me too.
I met my first OH because he'd broken his leg in a car crash and I was a junior nurse on a male orthopaedic ward. The ward sister told me to take him to the bathroom and wash his feet before the surgeon's round. He had a full leg plaster on. He tried to kiss me in the bathroom and said he would come back for me when he was discharged. He did, a month later. He proposed 2 months later. We were married in 1973 and had 4 children but he died from a heart attack aged 53, I was 47. We moved to France in '85.
Years later I met 2nd OH, who is English, in France at an annual meeting. His wife had died and he was trying to sell his house in France and move back to England. He did sell it after a few years and bought a cottage in East Anglia. So now we to and fro between England and France.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I met my hubby when I was still at school - I was 17, he was a friend of my older sister, and they sang in the same choir. When I went to university in the same town a couple of years later, I joined the choir too. He was a teacher, living in digs just outside my college's back gate. We had a 10pm curfew so I became adept at climbing over said 10ft gate and climbing in through the window of the college cleaning cupboard, which could be opened from the outside...
We've been married nearly 43 years.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
I met mine from afar in the school corridor when I was thirteen. He was the school football hero and I had his name written all over my pencil case. He was seventeen and totally ignored me.
We married, had two children and eventually divorced, but we are probably still the closest friends anyone could have.
Well they say there's no fool like an old fool and this old fool challenged next door's new gardener to a lawnmower race. That was last June and we've been going out since September. We've both got lots of history so negotiations are still ongoing....
We take turns at being the tortoise... I thought I was racing but as it happens he was just doing the right speed to end up in the same place as me as often as possible. Honestly! You think you grow up but actually you just get older!

And all the better for that.
Met mine in my final year at University, 28 years ago. Kept seeing him in the corridors as we were doing different courses but within the same School. Eventually bumped in to him at a pub in town and went from there
