I never believed that @Joyce21 as I tended towards cradles.

Unexpected weekend leave. Dashed off to the Local Dance Hall we had three but I only ever went to the Palais, expecting to meet current girl friend. She came towards me white faced, "what are you doing home I am with my other boy friend tonight"???
Other boy friend a RAF lad came over, "look Mate I knew nothing of this if you are going to hit me lets get it over" Nope I am going for a drink, RAF lad I am coming with you.
A few pints later he asked what now, I am not wasting the whole night so off to the Maison at the end of the street. A crowded smoke filled room with dim lights I belted my way to the front of the crowd and stood behind a girl. The Dance was announced i tapped the girl on the shoulder and asked if she wanted to dance, she turned said yes and we were never apart from then on. I lost her seven years ago after 60 very good years.

Frank, what an amazing story.. thank you for sharing.

All the stories are amazing, really.. you read them with hindsight, and see the touch of Fate, God, the Moirai, or whoever you follow.  It feels so much more than 'coincidence' or 'luck'.  I look back at my own love story, and see all seemingly insignificant little things that lead me to that moment and place.  All of it makes sense, with hindsight.

On a lighter note, when I got home after school last night my just-turned-four year old announced "Daddy got some flowers for you from the shop, they are under his big bike helmet in the garage."  Luckily my OH was in another room, so I my son to keep it a surprise.  But I am looking forward to some potted bulbs (my guess, as the helmet isn't large enough for a full bouquet  ;)) after work today.

In Mr Smiths nightclub, Warrington 29 years ago. My opening gambit was to ask her for a cigarette and I'm still smoking to this day.

These stories are so heart warning and reminds me of the uniqueness of each and every one of us, but as my dear Caribbean mother in law says, there's someone for everyone!
My husband and I lived in the same building, he came knocking as he knew my flat mates boyfriend, then he came knocking fairly regularly with lame excuses, noticed this was always as we were cooking, thinking him gorgeous I put a note through his for inviting him for dinner instead of just turning up and hinting that the good smelt good! We were best friends for a couple of years after but I never told him how I felt because he was so gorgeous with glamorous women throwing themselves at him that I thought he would never fancy a country girl that didn't care about fashion and cuts her own hair with the kitchen scissors.
I stayed over I've night as I couldn't get a cab and sleepily in the morning he told me he loved me! I punched him in the arm and said I've wanted to say that for bl##dy ages but didn't think you'd like me! We are now in our 20th year, best friends, never argue and totally smitten! 😀
