Oops, inadvertently sidetracked the thread! Thanks for the recipe ideas, tho there is only so many courgettes one can eat, so I rather like Blue Onions suggestion  :)

Me too @Liriodendron, some grow so slowly it’s very tempting

And me @Liriodendron and putting things the wrong side of the garden (for them) so the light is too much /not enough.

  • Courgette in a cake? 😝. Sorry, I'm not a fan of vegetables in sweet things! Or lavender!!
I either plant things too close together or too far apart! I'm too impatient!

You can't taste the courgette. It just makes the cake moister.

I am learning that I have to do fewer things well instead of 100 things half-arsed. I'm up to my ears in seedlings, some of which are dying because I can't look after so many on a daily basis (ill, no proper greenhouse). Over-enthusiasm always gets the better of me. Ho hum.
  • Spending many happy hours over the course of a few weeks researching THE perfect plant for a particular spot/situation... finding it's out of stock or not stocked at all when you look at online suppliers.... and then buying consolation plants that I never would have bought otherwise.  I have to stop doing that.

    Wise comments.
  • Ugh!!!! I'm seriously regretting planting garlic with broad beans. The broad beans ( early cropping) are covered regularly in aphids and ants because I suppose they're weakened by being put near the garlic. The aphids have now gone on to my dahlias which I planted yesterday. Have picked some broad bean pods. Now trying to decide whether to pick off remaining pods or just pull up the whole plant and bin it!!!

"I suppose they're weakened by being put near the garlic."

    Why would that be?
  • Well according to Bob Flowerdew in his Companion planting book( which I bought AFTER planting🙄), Garlic and alliums which are also in that bed should be kept away from beans and peas.
