Jellyfire I need to source buying a goat ha ha . Never seen them in Millport so could be a first SNORT!!!!!!!xx

I agree why destroy plants???? He could even have posted an advert for people to take them and get good homes. He went to a helluva lot of trouble just to hide it all and he's 86!! Knowing my luck He'll be a member here and I'll get sued.

Plenty left. Today I found a stunning magnolia that has just started to bloom. Will get a  photo tomorrow and try and see if anyone can identify it. x

Absolutely wonderful views ... it was a while back ... don't think I'll do the hills again ... going up is fine but going down plays havoc with my dodgy knee that doesn't have an ACL  :/  Enjoy and look after your knees  :D

Wouldn’t worry about being sued by horrible previous owner, Morag, someone recently mentioned on a thread that plants are part of the fixtures of the property so he didn’t have any right to remove or destroy anything, he broke the law! Don’t understand that mentality either.

I am a recent convert to gardening and eveything is still in development in my garden, but there are lots of photos of other folks gardens if you trawl through the posts. On some of my earlier posts, Perki and Malorena shared some wonderful photos of theirs. Anyone got any good woodland garden photos to share with Morag?

Garden centres or DIY stores. I think mine came from Mole Valley Farmers. I was swinging one this afternoon as I (slowly) debramble our "new" garden.

moragb, if you can't buy a Mattock in Millport, try Largs or West Kilbride.
Neighbour is doing up a flat in Millport.....a lot easier than doing your garden.

It sounds as though the land behind the wall and gate does not really belong to your house and that is probably why the previous owner blocked up the gate. If that is the case, do you really want to spend time and money on a garden you may be forced to give up one day?  Why don't you concentrate your energy on the garden surrounding your house.  Also the stepladder access over the wall is an accident waiting to happen, especially if you live alone.  Sorry to put a damper on things - I used to be a lawyer!

That’s a good if sobering point Lizzie. If it’s been that way for decades, as Morag says, and this could be proven, with testimony from neighbours, would she not be able to exercise squatters rights and get it registered as hers with the land registry? Wonder if any of the neighbours have done this? As the farmer used it as effectively a drovers road for his cattle, other legislation might prevent this, sorry not up on Scottish law and rights of way - married to a lawyer!

Dampgardenman thanks I will try and buy one.

Lizzie27. I know it doesn't belong to me and that's why he blocked it up. All of the houses in the row have "extended" their gardens into the small bit of farmers land which is a wood and he turns a blind eye to it. It is such a waste though as some of the plants are fabulous, so being a plantaholic I would just like to restore it just for pleasure. I may be too old in a few years to be able to do it anyways. The ladder over the wall is only until we can get it unblocked. Thanks x

Nollie the farmers hasn't taken cattle through there for years and doubt he ever will again as very woody now, but I am not interested in registering the land. However maybe a thought I should meet the farmer and politely ask him if he objects. Just worried it may open up a can of worms and he may tell everyone not to use it and I would be popluar!!! weird one.  Been told by my neighbours he's not bothered about it. xx

Hey Joyce. Thanks for that will do. Hope your friend enjoys their place. It's a fab place to have a holiday home. Had one for 15 years now x
