When Wonky was digging her garden she found a buried rolled up carpet ... unnerved her a bit!!!   Thankfully nothing inside  :D

I find so many bones here I often expect to come across something suspect. The horse was particularly unnerving!

I've just spoken to Wonky ... she said there were some bones inside the carpet but she didn't say anything to anyone as she didn't want her garden destroyed by a search ... she does live in a part of the town where 'unusual occurrences' seem not that unusual  :/

Lots of people put their dogs in carpets, blankets etc when they bury them. Well I hope it’s that!

I have to say, your garden and that house, (assuming its yours) is gorgeous!

Well the rain eased off a bit today and managed to get most of Pond 2 done. The idea is for it to look as though its a continuation of pond 1 like a stream cutting through the garden.
Can’t really see on the pictures but it’s about a foot lower than the first one. I’m going to add a little header pool between them which will have a small cascade into the lower one, and then disguise the in-between area with planting.
This one is mainly going to be for planting, and after experience of 1st one I left a shallow ledge all around which I placed turf on. This is a kind of flood plain level and will plant marginals directly into the turf.
Then tucked the excess liner in with the spade, then placed turves across the whole lot to form a raised bank. Will just let grass and wildflowers grow long on here with aim of protecting the edge from being trampled. Have got about 4 inches safety margin to the water level. First pond is looking much better already as the grass edges are growing. Hopefully they’ll both be looking much more natural in a few weeks.

Thanks. Wish I’d read my own ‘lessons learned’ post and not done it in the rain though, it’s a bit like Glastonbury out there now

If it carries on like this most of East Anglia will be under water very soon ... brother is getting anxious ... my niece gets married in a few weeks and the reception is in the garden, down by the R. Deben ... methinks I'm going to have to get some posh wellies to go with the posh hat  B)

    Hi Lee and welcome  :)
Looking forward to more pics of your pond as it progresses ... ours is about four years old now and we have newts, frogs, toads and pond snails plus all the usual smaller residents ... and the occasional visit from a watersnake when he wants a frog for lunch ... as he/she only eats a very few a year apparently, and there are lots around here, he's very welcome ... just so glad I saw him and was able to get a photo ... but if you don't like gory stuff don't look

Which bit of Suffolk (roughly) are you in, if you don't mind me asking ... I lived most of my life in Mid-Suffolk near Framlingham/Halesworth but have been transplanted to Norfolk  :o
Wow, amazing (and gory) pic Dove.  We had a moorhen visit yesterday but it didn't stay as pond too small but lovely to see it having a look.
