Afternoon all, been a busy bee in the garden today, split my first canna, harder work than it looks they are tough old things.  Have also collected lots of leaf litter planted a rose cut back some frost damage and cleared some blanket weed from the pond.  It's a beautiful warm day out there.  Will be back out later after I've had a bacon butty and a cuppa.  Waiting for Yodel to come and collect the oversized wheelchair, have a big sign on the door to say I might be in the garden, if ever they just leave and don't check.......

I’m glad to hear some of you have been able to get into the garden. It makes such a difference to how we all feel (well speaking for myself I suppose, but I’ve detected a lift in spirits from some of you).
time for bed here. Catch up tomorrow.

Very true Pat. I have now stopped after a busy but very satisfying day in the garden.
Unfortunately, rain is forecast, again, for tomorrow.

Thanks.  I shall probably end up growing it in pots on the terrace which faces north but is very bright and right outside the kitchen door so handy for watering and picking and maybe less prone to bolting.

I've also sown garlic chives and 2 kinds of basil plus Tuscan and Provençal salad mixes.  Fingers crossed for lots of babies.

Have just got back from the weekly shop which included a rare raid on LIDL where I found a fold-up pruning saw which I've read elsewhere on here is a good 'un.  Went to a garden centre and they have no cell trays for sowing!  Will just have to try again tomorrow in another place.

The sun is out, the winds have calmed and it's lovely.  More of the same tomorrow but nasty again on Saturday.   I hope you haven't overdone it Joyce in your excitement and hope it's clearing up for you LP.

Dove - booking is sometimes essential.  I am driving OH to a golf dinner tomorrow pm and have offered to fetch him afterwards.  The menu wasn't tempting enough to make me put up with golf chat but I will earn Brownie points to spend at a plant fair on Sunday........

Been a lovely day today. I've made a big fruit cake for the orchestra's tea tomorrow, choir concert day. Also made a granary loaf. Been to see our English friends in the village who wanted to show us their new conservatory, it's rather smart.

We had lunch outside. The rest of the day I've been cutting and pruning with the electric hedgecutter and clearing up the mess. Need to finish pruning the climbing Paul's Scarlet, with secateurs, not the hedgecutter! Still a couple of barrowloads of stuff to clear. Beds too wet to weed.

Hi everyone. Lovely to hear people are starting to get outside and get some serious pottering done! My long list of garden jobs won't be made much shorter any time soon, judging by the rainy forecast we have for the weekend - grrrrr!

My garden and I live in South Wales.

Grrrr Yodel didn't turn up despite sending me an email saying they had been and left a card.  Lies, lies, lies.  At the time they said they had called I was sitting in the lounge eating my bacon butty and no card was put through the letterbox.  You can't phone them and speak to anyone, only an automated message, and you can't email them, except to fill in a form to request a new collection date.  Have to wait in all day tomorrow now. Cheered myself up by leaving a stinking review on Trust Pilot.

Got loads more done in the garden this afternoon, emptied some ceramic pots and filled them with plastic pots full of tulips.  Identified a site and put up my wig wam ready for the sweet peas.  Cleared loads more seedlings off the dining table and into the greenhouse.  All in all a very productive day.

    Evening all.
I was pruning / re-training the ramblers on the pergola and realised I was about to run out of twine. Off to Mole Valley Farmers, out of stock, but I bought 2 packs of half price onion sets and 2 bottles of tomato food BOGOF.
Came home and had lunch with Hubby then headed to the garden centre to get the twine. 2 rather lovely water lilies found their way home with us.

I know exactly what you mean, Yvie. My husband had two parts  on 24 hour express delivery by UPS. We have had one person within 5 steps of the front door all day. At 3pm we got a message to say that they tried to deliver at 2.30 but no one was in. No note through door.  One phone call to US to complain as it is urgent, and an hour later  a driver appeared, apparently she had tried to deliver it five doors up because she often takes stuff there.  He has to take the parts to Manchester with him tomorrow. At least I don't have to be tied to the front door all day tomorrow. If the weather holds I will do some gardening.
