There's a little place we found by accident in Wales, Obelixx, which is called "Dawn of Day".   :)

I'm sitting in the kitchen with the windows wide open, willing the 2nd jackdaw we can hear in the chimney to fly out... it's a bit cold, and I mustn't make a noise to scare it...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Good name.   We just get sparrows so far Liri.   Have to shut the dogs out before we open the log burner door to let them out thru the window.

Morning all. We've only ever had a dead pigeon down our chimney (in that I think it died somewhere near the top and only fell down once dead) and possibly a magpie (there was one in the dining room once and we don't know if it came through the window, patio door or chimney. My guess is the chimney). We've now got one of those little cages on top of the chimey pot.

Last day of school hols today and Bow is frantically trying to complete a homework project. Trill is vegging in front of trash TV. It's Bow who should be relaxing really as her next concert (the opera one) is coming up. But needs must. Christopher Purves is the baritone, Dominic Wheeler the conductor, in case either of those names are familiar to all you opera buffs out there. She's been thoroughly converted to opera, by the way. I await my conversion on Wednesday!

Obelixx it's amazing how hot it gets in your tunnel already - what on earth is it going to be like in midsummmer?!!? What's the outside temp when it's 28° in there?

The weather is a bit cloudy but basically nice. I need to dry some bedding on the line this afternoon so it had better not rain.

Hope the drive went well Chicky and you feel more at home in your new car. Enjoy the Albert Hall.

Other local place names. Splatt, Diddies, Bush, the rather sinister Killatree and dare I mention , from Bodmin.  Brown Willy. I kid you not.

There's a place in Belgium called Silly and another called Manage.  Pass both between Gembloux and Lille to head to France or UK.

It's currently 15C in the shade.  I've already had 40C in the PT but that was with the doors closed.  I go out and open them first thing now as that made my lettuce plugs wilt.....

The nearest silly name to here is Pratts Bottom. Though nearer is Farwig Lane, where the road sign has traditionally always been defaced to make the F into a capital E. I've always liked the Wallops (Nether, Over and Middle) too.

By the way, the cage is one of these. I realised it might sojnd lkke we were trapping things on the roof!

Re the AC programme, the ending filmed is not the original. The screenwriter changed it!

    Hello folks ... we're home  :D

The seeds that hadn't sprouted or only just on Friday have virtually pushed their lids off over the weekend!   :open_mouth:

We had a lovely few days in S. Lincs ... we met up with Nut at a local plant fair where plants were purchased ... we also visited a GC where even more plants were purchased and a fine Sunday Lunch was eaten ... OH's sisters and niece were met up with and birthday presents given to one sister, the niece and MIL who all have birthdays within the next few days.

We're now also  on very good terms with a local plumber as some plumbing in the en suite sprang a leak or three (due to the en suite having been installed a few years ago by a crook) ... I was sitting quietly reading the paper on Saturday morning when suddenly I was in a shower ... the plumber came out straight away and fixed it (nearly three hours work for under £40 and no call out charge ).

However as is the way with plumbing, the water found the next weakest spot and yesterday teatime I was being dripped on again ... we sent a text to the plumber telling him what was going on, but saying that as the drips were small and 8 secs apart we would put a bucket under it and hopefully he could find time to do it within the next few days.

Despite being a dad of two little boys, and having run a half marathon that morning, he turned up within 15 minutes of the text and spent another couple of hours sorting the problem.  What a star :star:

Now I'll have a quick read back and see what you lot have been up to .........

Talking of plumbers, my local one came round today to talk about boilers. Mine was fitted in the early 70s and needs replacing, also costs a fortune to run. This is a big house, will be expensive.

Have been doing HW today so that Housesitter, nice young man, says he'll do some gardening while he's here, won't think I'm a slut. Off to the cottage in Norfolk tomorrow.

    Leg still aches.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
