Sadly there are only 3 solutions. 1. Site sorts itself out, technically feasible. 2. Leave things as they are big image posters / non re sizers happy. 3. reduce picture size, some slow broadband users happy, some of the time.
I can post any photo I like on most of the forums I use and noone complains. I shall not be resizing, using photo hosting or other means to reduce photo size, when it is clear from what many posters are saying, that this is not the major problem preventing seeing pictures.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
If I didn’t use the iPad, I wouldn’t bother to resize either, haven’t got the time, you just want to put a quick pic on, no time for faffing about, Stuarts was there instantly, there have been some absolutely huge one on the site lately, I only ever see half of them, not got the time to wait for them to load. If I used a camera and I wanted to take a pic just for the site, i would reduce beforhand but I don’t use the camera anymore.

On balance I look at 100s/1000s of photographs on here but post a few. I have no idea what any of it means but if I had to learn to resize my images before posting then I would. I said it at the top of this thread but I can't help thinking that after the last photo debacle, that should have been the change that was addressed first. The rest is just typing and faffing. ( Don't even start me about the emojis) I sometimes have to wait a few seconds for a picture but that's ok; it's there by the time I've read the text. Others aren't so fortunate AND HAVE NO CHOICE!
We all want the freedom to choose what is right for us and everyone benefits when we all choose to give it to each other.
We've all had to learn a lot just to be here at all. Not prepared to go the extra mile to benefit others? Ah well. Run the risk that big pics will be ignored, not by me of course (Virgin Greased Lightning)

From what has been said by many, " the powers that be " have it in their control to automatically resize posted photos. ( I have no idea if it's true ) That would seem to the sensible solution.
Somewhere a while back Nora explained that in order to get rid of a lot of the problems we'd had to cope with in the past (instability and stuff) this new forum is 'piggybacking on another platform' ... is that the technical term I'm looking for ... I know what she means but not sure if I'm saying it right ... anyway, what I do know is because of how this 'other platform' is set up, the GW tech team are unable to do some things, like put an automatic photo re-sizer on the forum ... it is just not possible. It's like saying that I want my elderly convertible to also have a 4WD option ... it aint possible ... so whatever the solution is it's not going to be that. Some of us are going to have to compromise ... just like I can't grow the blueberries OH wants in this chalky garden ... they're going to have to go in containers ... a PITA but that's the way it is. There's some things that aren't possible, no matter how much we want it ... I can't be 26 again either ...

Well said Dove, I’ve must have said this about three times on this thread but putting in your way, convertibles, 4WD and blueberry may just get the message across, again. I suppose they thought they were doing right at the time, so many people complained, even left because they couldn’t post their large photos, so Nora makes it so they can, probably not realising that in this day and age people still have naff internet. Thnak goodness for my trusty iPad. 😀
