I wonder if photo size is why I've started to run out of data allowance before the end of the month on my mobile. I have only had slow loading photos from two posters. I think it's Jameso and Joyce. I wonder what size their photos are and what they are taking them with. Not picking on anyone just wondering what is different about their photos.

    Yvie, my photos are camera>computer.
None are more than 2.5 MB, some less than 2MB and dimension 3072x2304

That really shouldn't cause a problem. I thought we had a 2mg limit on the old site. Or am I talking rubbish. It's quite possible.

I stopped using my camera when they restricted the size of photos last time and started using my iPhone  (it's a fairly old phone firstborn's cast off).

I post pics with same equipment as on the old site and there wasn't a problem.

Well I'm sure the powers that be will make their decision soon and we'll just have to make the best of it.

I don't use a mobile phone, with camera / data allowance.
On the very , very rare occasions I use a mobile, it's to make a phone call, and that's usually when my "work" phone doesn't have signal and I have to find a customer.
I think I've only sent about 5 text messages in my life.

Generally: more pixels = larger file size.  Different devices have different screen resolutions.  Bandwidth and data allowance is also a consideration.

Admittedly there is not a one size fits all here, but you could start with a low bandwidth default and then augment that where needed (progressive enhancement).

More people use mobiles for internet use worldwide than desktops/laptops.  And in the UK there is a downward trend for laptop/desktop with mobile access rising more and more.  Mobile is becoming the new normal.

I'm glad all is good for you.  Accessibility: For the many, and the few.

Several people sent photos and wondered if I could see them on page 7, thanks people.
@Topbird tagged me, but how do I know I've been tagged?

I saw Shep's rabbit straight away, Lyn's lovely hellebores took a minute, Hosta's scene took about 3 minutes so read the read of the page while waiting and when I got to Joyce's pretty azalea/rhodo it was all there - before Hosta's.

@Busy-Lizzie  - go into your settings and Notification Preferences and tick one of the boxes next to 'Notify me when someone mentions me' ... I've just ticked the Pop Ups  which works fine for me.   :)
