It already is ticked, Dove. Is it one of those Pop Ups that comes up just when you are trying to read something and then disappears?

Just returned to the forum after another long break (health and energy problems). I like my first impressions of the new format.

Just tried the above image test 4 times and had different results on each attempt:

    1.  Photo 1 began to download very slowly then the whole thin stopped and reverted to showing just one tiny square icon for each photo.
    2. Photo1 downloaded a little more than in (1) (but still slowly)before all reverting to icons again
    3. Photo 1 slowly downloaded completely but photos 2,3 and 4 were just icons
    4. All 4 photos had downloaded by the time I had left the room and returned a few minutes later.

i don't know what this means but I suspect it is something to do with my iPad eventually accumulating enough cookies to process the images more efficiently. It is an iPad2 and is 6 years old. I've got about half of the original storage space (or memory?) still left on it so it should still have enough but is just slower.

More people use mobiles for internet use worldwide than desktops/laptops.  And in the UK there is a downward trend for laptop/desktop with mobile access rising more and more.  Mobile is becoming the new normal.

I don't even own one, and that isn't likely to change any time soon. I think they're a modern day curse.
People with their heads in their phones, swiping, swiping, swiping, ignoring everyone and everything around them , deluding themselves, they're " keeping in touch " , they're just reading post it notes, that, to me , isn't communication.
I accept that I'm in a minority on this one but I've lived for over half a century without feeling the need that people should be able to contact me 24/7 . My faults are legion, but vanity isn't one of them. If folk want to speak to me , then call me in the evenings when I'm at home.
It's one bandwagon upon which I shall never jump.
    Rant over.

You're not alone Hosta.  I have an ancient mobile phone (no camera) which is used for texts and the occasional phone call.

Ditto, and the battery lasts for ever!

I rarely use my basic mobile phone, not much signal here anyway. Had a look at daughter's iPhone, but I could hardly see it and my fingers are too big for the keyboard.

@Hostafan1, yet you still appear to be online relatively frequently.  Many people don't use their phones to talk, they are doing exactly what you're doing, accessing the Internet.  Modern mobiles are portable computers with Internet connectivity.

Wayside, those of us with arthritic joints find it easier to use a large keyboard rather than use a stylus on a mobile phone.

That's right Joyce! Also you have to find the right glasses to look at the screen. I have the print turned up bigger on my Laptop.
