We enjoyed watching Vienna Blood too!  Not sure about the Martin Freeman drama. Gritty realism is all very well but not sure I'm in the mood for that at the moment. OTOH - Peaky Blinders will be on soon and that I am looking forward to!

Same here re The Responder, @didyw.
However, have watched and enjoyed both series of Vienna Blood, a sumptuous setting and so atmospheric. Got completely thrown by seeing the psychiatrist in a Johnny English film, however! Couldn’t think what he was doing in a modern setting!

Thought Martin Freeman was superb in The Responder, another triumph for the BBC.

Is it just me with that programme, I find the sound quite poor and have to guess some of the things being said? I have a problem with some American films too.

I could hear and understand everything.
However, I'm sure those who make programmes these days assume that everyone has a TV the size of a house side as I can NEVER read message on phones without rewinding and going right up to the screen to read them

Having got used to subtitles for foreign language programmes, we often resort to using the subtitles for other programmes as well. Can’t think of a specific example, but a couple of programmes recently have left us asking each other, ‘what did he just say?’. Once that’s happened a couple of times, the subtitles get put on, easier than having to rewind and replay, often more than once!
