Thanks. I love the above photos. Esp the blue flower and the ferns. You have good eyes.
It was good to see the massed hardy maiden hair ferns at the CPG.

I would have liked to come to the Palace but I might have expired for good, trying to do both. I'm impressed you did a whole day travelling in this heat.

    .............

I have asked if the CPG would have a permanent section dedicated to the growth of sugar. It's how the Sloane family made their money, it's interesting as a history, of West London, Britain, Jamaica (where the family plantations were) and other colonies. It played a huge role as a crop that fuelled the growth of London and the empire. It's the fuel of contemporary society - from Coke to plastics, to clothing to biofuels. So I think it would appropriate in many ways. I emailed the gardens last year and spoke to some staff last year, but didn't get very far. I might make a formal proposal in a letter.

If you are going to have a large statue to one of London's richest slave owners, there has to be some transparent reference to the history, surely? Why not make is historically, botanically and contemporarily fascinating?

I think spring could be a fab time at CPG - with all the snowdrops and then the various huge magnolias out. I might try and catch them next year.

[We were talking about online glasses companies - this is the one I've used, but there are lots appeared in the last few years. Fully made up glasses with frames from £3-10. No quibble returns. Pretty life changing].

@Hazel 1 - wish they were my photos... Chicky's and LG's, actually.  I've got some to post, but it'll have to wait until I've dealt with 6lb of raspberries and sung in a concert.   :)
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

@Fire I think your sugar idea makes sense, would work and fit well into the existing garden. Let us know if you get any response.
