I think it may be easier to find a Stabilio stockist too.
    or a pencil?  ;)
Sorry to say Hosta, your pencils don’t stay on here, I have nice plants, not named 😀 they are ok in the GH but I have yet to find a pencil for outside use that’s long lasting.
the pens I usually use have gone up this year to £6.00 for two, and although extremely long lasting outside, I think that’s a bit expensive. I am going to try the sharpies, like the idea of the fine nib to write heights of plants on the labels.

    Hi Lyn
I get my pens from my local Wilko's 2 pens for £1.50 last time I brought them. I buy the fine line pens as they erase quite  easy on plastic plant labels

Mad P, in another thread John Harding wrote

"I use a Stabilo fine black marker pen - then after plants are planted out I dip the label in a drop of cellulose thinners for 1 second and wipe it - clean as a whistle (as they say). Very quick, very easy ... but then again I do have a tin of cellulose thinners in my workshop - a 500ml tin can be purchased from a car accessory shop."

Nail polish remover would do the same job as both are acetone based. Magic stuff.

I haven't read through the whole thread but I will chip in with my tuppence worth. Thinking out loud here though without having done it myself. There are pens out there with a fine nib that exude paint. Often seen on second hand car parts. Personally I use a black sharpie to name my veg and a pencil to change the variety and date annually as it is easily erased. After all an onion is always an onion hence the permanent ink for that part.

    Same here. With a Sharpie.
The tongue depressers don't last too long but long enough for me to remember or recognise what the plant is.
I only really use labels on seedlings or cuttings. Sometimes I'll just write on the side of the pot.
