    hi Jason,

I make no claims about professionalism, I do things my way, but I use these hooks, which I probably got from b and q or similar, and then I stick them using either Stix-All which I get from Screwfix or No Nails. They're for outdoor use and totally weatherproof..

I prefer Stix-All as it's much quicker to set, the No Nails one works  but takes longer to set.  I use one of those gun thingys like the builders do, to apply as this stuff comes in those tubes, or if only doing one hook I just dab a bit on from the tube using some other implement, like a screw driver..

..here is one finished on my shed, where there are no holes to fix anything.  This is now ready for a small piece of string to tie a rose cane when it reaches it, for support..
I intend to put several of these along my shed roof so I'll be able to tie the rose in..
I've no idea whether this would be suitable for your type of house walls, you would have to look into that, stix-all and no nails do harden and are very strong, but can be scraped off..

Thank you marlorena...that is realy helpful !!
  • Thanks everyone! Really pleased with them too. It is the first time I have a house with the space to grow roses and this has given me the confidence to try other types/ varieties. Next on my list is to plant few standards this autumn:) Thanks @Marlorena for the advice, my neighbour actually asked me for the same question the other day, it is very useful to know.
