Yesterday we went to an OG at the Chateau de Nesmy.   Talk about missed opportunities!  Long sweeping entrance with mown grass to the right and tall trees and partially mown grass to the left sweeping down to meadows and water.   On round to the old carriage house and stables and the potager - underwhelming - and then down thru woods to more water.   No planting of the woodland, just a recently mown path in parts.   Views up to the chateau which has a big wall supporting a flat terrace overlooking the water and woods.

Not a flower in sight!  Just plain grass and tatty palm trees.  Even the two urns were empty.  Definitely a park and not a garden.

Best to have Adblock Plus or similar installed to see these.

Pashley Manor today for the fag end of the tulip festival. Shame a lot of the tulips have gone over but still a pleasant day out.

I love Pashley Manor, have been several times in the past as my parents used to live near there.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

It was nice today.  Not too busy but of course it was incredibly hot.  The temptation to jump into the swimming pool was almost too much

Had a family picnic in the Isabella Plantation in Richmond Park (London) at the weekend. Forgot to take any pictures of the family and precious few of the plants, but here are a selection:

Gorgeous LG.  I looked at a handkerchief tree at a recent plant fair.   Silly money!  I'll try and find a baby somewhere.  What's that second one?  I love the little bells.

I don't know what it is, Obelixx! No label, and I rather hoped someone might tell me (@nutcutlet ?). The Davidia was rather tucked away - we were right next to it before we saw it but it was the best example I've ever seen. Perfect timing.

Maybe a new thread to get Nut's attention?

Lovely pics LG.  Those last two remind me of Augusta National Golf Course.
