Never happy - I just picked some blackberries, only a handful admittedly but I really don't want them yet, it was bad enough when they came in August but early July really!
Oh I know the reason, the heat is compressing the season, raspberries came before the strawbs were finished, logans came & went in < 2 weeks now this. My carefully planned "succession" has all gone to pot.
So has mine. Tom's not ripe yet cucumbers going mad( minis are ripening slower than the normal didn't expect that) and just picked a handful of courgettes. French beans slower too. Raspberries eaten by blackbirds and they are not even ripe yet.
Last year I grew a cucumber in a pot for the first time using a bamboo cane for support. I was amazed at the amount of fruits it produced until August, when the weight of cue's caused the plant to slide down the cane and the stem was crushed Then I on;y got a few. This year I put up some tough clematis netting for it to scramble on. I picked my first cue on 15th June and have just now picked my 119th!!!! I'm in awe of the plant that can produce so many. What a good idea @Pete8 mine are just starting the heavy slide, for this year I have put wires across and started winding the tops around them. Hope it works.
