Hi folks, Chicky it looks like we have both returned to the fold. I've got lots of seeds that have just germinated. They are in propagators on the conservatory window ledge. Petunia shock wave, verbena, snapdragons, ammi major, agastache, pansies, lobelia, can't remember the rest.
Hubby usually buys me plants on valentines day, we don't do cards but I do like the idea of the same card going back and forth.
Overdone it a bit in the garden today so suspect I'll have a bit of a problem dropping off to sleep tonight. Think a couple of painkillers might be on the cards.
I couldn't bear the thought of eating oysters and don't like caviar, can't see what the fuss is about.
Lizzie, it wasn't difficult, though a bit fiddly. And Liri, it was considerably cheaper... though not as cheap as I'd thought. Probably cost about £17 in materials, and only took a couple of hours to put together. I probably could get the rods quite a bit cheaper, but I went for what was in stock so I could get on with it. They're stronger than strictly needed (drawn steel - mild steel not in stock), but hopefully that'll mean it lasts.
I just hope it keeps the squirrels off.
Night all.

Interesting read back today. Re. Caviar, it made me squirm and feel very uncomfortable when I saw a video of people squeezing the poor fish bellies to get their eggs out. Yuk! Do the fish die afterwards?
Ive just transplanted on seedlings of Celeriac. I planted the seeds too close together and what a job it was trying to separate the little stems and roots. Anyway, they are now four seedlings to 4” square pots, so hopefully they will go ahead to a more manageable size before too long.
Hoping for rain, with Black Cockatoos screeching very loudly outside And some promising clouds.
G'day Pat , just had a listen to the BC's call.....like distressed babies chewing up trees
Re the seafood....oysters are very popular in Ireland .....but I'm with Hosta's phlegm analogy.
Rather liked black caviar when I first arrived in Moscow not now though. We ate lot's of nice fresh fish when I was a young boy in Dublin favorite was fresh mackerel from the Irish Sea every Friday
Yes Dacha. They are very loud. I should walk over to our nearest pine tree and take a photo of what‘s left of the pine cones. Looks as though we won’t get any pine nuts again this year. The rain didn’t arrive and the clouds have disappeared.
Great cloches LG And lovely to see the little shoots beneath them too. Enjoy half term.
Good to see you Yvie, hope you have survived the winter ok ......nearly spring now Was up your way last week to take littlest Chicklet out for a birthday lunch - I like Birmingham more every time I visit - possibly our most underrated town
Later start today as working from home - car troubles yesterday . But I cunningly steered my limping chariot to a GC carpark so that I had something to do whilst waiting for the RAC to rescue me (other firms available)
Anyone looking for a yummy, but rather indulgent, filling for their crepes should try sliced banana and Baileys. I have it most Sundays for breakfast. (banana and Nut***a if you're TT)
I can't eat salmon for all the reasons given above. I was "forced" to eat it as a nine year old and spent the night throwing up! Even thinking about it now is making my stomach churn. I was still sick the day after when Neil Armstrong walked on the moon....and yet I'm 27.
Cards all posted everyone??? Driveways cleared for the incoming?????? Yeah! Me too!
Enjoy your Tuesday.
ps where's the M74? I want to go there; the people seem very nice.
LG you taking orders? Super cloches. How do you keep it in place?
Chicky hope all is well.
I can’t eat caviar just the thought of how it is produced makes me sick. Same with Fois gras, poor ducks squeezed for that However, I love oysters!
we are shocked to hear good friends had a house fire and have lost everything. Can’t imagine how that must feel. Apparently it was a mirror left near a windowsill and the winter sun did the rest. Beware!
Plant P M74 is the continuation of the M6 once you are over the border into Scotland can be a bit wild.
its snowing.
