Since I learnt of this latest occurrence of us polluting our planet I now buy loose tea and use a tea strainer like my Granny used to before SMs

We can all make our own choices and I choose to not buy tea bags

When I get vegetables from super markets at the till I take the veg out of the unnecessary plastic bags or cartons and hand it to the cashier whilst explaining it is not a complaint against them but the industry as a whole

Then Tescos can recycle the packaging instead of me walking it home , storing it in my house and then watching the bin men drive it away to go in the earth

I dont let their problem become my problem

I buy all of my fruit and veg from the local veg shop and it is about 75% cheaper that SMs and as you do it all goes in an old back pack that has been all over the world

I go into SMs to make a point re packaging and to watch the shop lifters !!

I would like there to be an INDEPENDENT inspection by health officials to see what products in Sms is NOT MAKING US OBESE AND SICK

Then give them 2 years to only stock healthy produce.............It wont happen as The Government works for the producers

It's not the products in Supermarkets or from any other source which make people obese and sick.  That is caused in the vast majority of cases by stuffing too much into the face and taking too little exercise.

I have stopped putting tea bags on my compost heap all they do is  blow around the borders even after a year in the compost  heap.

Same problem as buying bedding plants that have been started off in "Teabag" seedling containers .

I now just peel off the all the bags before planting the plant. The roots just do not easily grow through the "teabag" material.

I wonder what the half life of a' biodegradable' 'teabag' is. I haven't knowingly bought a plant in a teabag for about four years , but I still find them  in the ground , fully intact with bone dry compost inside and no sign of the unfortunate plant.

It used to be just B&Q  - so easy to avoid, but I've noticed a local independent  selling them  last year. I suppose eventually we'll have to treat the tea bags like casings on a supermarket cucumber and peel them off before use.

I too use Yorkshire Tea in bag form and compost the bags.. I do not think you can buy loose Yorkshire tea.. I found another use for tea bags if you are beset by local moggies doing their business in your beds. You add a few drops of Eucaliptus oil, repells pussy really well.So I scatt them around fav spots..

Heres another thought, I also compost my filter paper and the coffee grounds from my machine. I am told that coffee grounds are not like by Slugs and Snails, so this could be a good thing..

I too shop for fruit n' veg in a local market and do not buy plastic wrapped if I can possibly help it...   Market day tomorrow.. image

I have tesco delivery, the driver will take back all kinds of plastic bags, packaging etc.

i was annoyed this week though and will write a complaint to Tesco, I bought some mince meat from the fresh counter, thinking it would all come in a small plastic bag, oh no! It came in two separate plastic trays with heat shrink plastic on the top. It was definitely from the fresh counter, it said on the box, not to be opened for shelf use. Also bought a broccoli head, loose, rather than the heat shrink wrap, they put it in a plastic bag, absolutely no need for that, nothing to do with cleanliness as it’s on the shelves for everyone to handle.

I think this is all beyond is now!
