At this time of year it’s hard for gardens not to look lush and verdant. I am new to this forum and have greatly enjoyed looking at other people’s gardens, seeing which plant and colour combinations I would like to copy. My mother was a great fan of the ‘nice splash of colour’ school of planting, quite favoured too on this thread, whereas I try to work with a more restricted palette.

Note the position of the clothes line! It’s some way from the house but pretty unobtrusive.

Love the wallflower and tulip combo! Why do I never have any luck with tulips? Even the ones in pots don't do well.  :(

My tulips always end up like this, they don't open properly!

Some pictures of the bits that do look good:

Goodness, all this wonderful flower-porn can be somewhat addictive to a newcomer like me... so much inspiration, in terms of new flowers I want to try (crown imperial fritillaries, for example) and fab colour combinations...

My favourite pots this Spring... one either side of the front door...

I just wanted to share this with you  Its a rhododendron/azalea that i bought about 8 years ago. Cant remember it's name but i think Mollis was in there. It has moved with me from inland to this coastal area and despite the battering winds still gives off a good show.

There are some beautiful plant combinations here - given me food for thought - planning next year's garden already!  This is a rather gaudy coloured azalia that hits you in the eye - outside our front door - a most welcome present from past visitors on a return to the island last week. Can anyone put a name to it please?

So many lovely pix - too many to comment on. We're a bit further behind up here, so it's always nice to see some floral displays in others' gardens  :)
Took these towards the end of April - the daffs are now all out and have been splendid, and not bothered by the rough weather. They're 'June Allyson', given to me by my sister for my biggish birthday last year. The name is relevant  :)

    Osmanthus flowering well this year

Species tulips [Fusilier] giving a welcome lift to dull days. The others have all appeared in the last week or so too

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
