I believe most hospital car parks belong to the companies that own the buildings, not the NHS ... and the revenue goes to the owners, not the NHS ... I think I'm right in saying that ...
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I think you're forgetting the Russians in the Ukraine and Syria, ISIS and co in assorted middle eastern states and Africa, the Saudis behind all sorts of Muslim messing, the Iranians in Yemen and many other conflicts with repercussions elsewhere.
As for Trident, it's a deterrent, not an offensive weapon.

Oh I think they thought about it - the big construction companies and MPs are deeply entwined. The rules about MPs and business interests mean a large number of the ones who have independent financial means (and there are quite a lot of those in all parties) are actually heavily invested in property and construction. They get a nice pension when they retire from politics out of those PFI contracts.

Looking at the bloody history of the poor Russian people , and the horrors instilled on them through no fault of their own , I would rather trust Putin than that imbecile in the Whitehouse .
My father was Russian , and suffered collective farming and Stalinism in the early 1950s (he never saw his parents again after 1941) Compelled to fight at gunpoint by Nazi SS troops against his own people , he was somehow absorbed into the chaotic maelstrom of war ravaged Europe in 1945 , and ended up in Britain . As a POW at that time he was treated atrociously by the British people . Their insular mentality at that time didn't bode well for foreigners found 'fighting on the wrong side' .
Had he been able to return home , he would have been executed as a traitor .
I am well aware of all the petty conflicts , civil wars and 'religious crusades' happening right now ; nuclear deterrents or not and however ludicrously expensive , these will seemingly go on forever .
Don't be daft. It's like a conversation in a pub or a café - never know where it'll end up. Just enjoy the ride. Not all gardeners have their heads buried in the compost heap!

Have had the pleasure of three visits to Lincoln County Hospital recently ; any time over 45 minutes is a standard £3-90 .
Most people round this off to £4-00 as they can't be bothered with small change .
QMC in Nottingham is even more apparently .
Dove ; I'm sure most people wouldn't mind paying if the funds went to where they were needed (the NHS)
and not to the property owners .
Fourteen years ago , my wife (in her early 50s) had both hips replaced within six-months of each other ; a trauma in itself !
The staff (NHS) at the time were absolutely brilliant ; caring , thoughtful and considerate . I cannot fault them and back them 100%!!!!
The pressure and duress , not to mention the bad press , must be very disheartening to many an NHS employee
This article is quite frightening - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/health/news/8779598/Private-Finance-Initiative-where-did-all-go-wrong.html
It's what happens when politicians, as ever, go for the short term solution without thinking of long term consequences to the tax payer/voters.

You're probably right for people like George Osborne and Tony Blair and David Cameron and the like but are all politicians utterly without integrity?
Crikey !
What was posted as a fairly innocuous thread @19.31 yesterday has turned into a major debate .
I'll think twice before posting anything else !
