I tried the GALS on frozen sweetcorn this week and he seemed to love it. He only eats about 4 kernels at a time but wraps himself around them and scrunches them until there's nothing left. I'm considering dehydrating some fresh leaves this week, crumbling them up and making a paste to feed him. If he goes for it them it will be good food to use over the winter. He's still eating dandelion leaves very well and there's a fresh flush of them coming through with this cooler weather. They're supposed to like nettles too but I don't know if you're supposed to prepare them first? Dried could be a good option for them too.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
Don’t know @wild edges, ours really only like cucumber and lettuce. They tried pepper leaves, ok at first then went off them. I’ll try them with a juicy pear later.
I think they should have fresh leaves as theres more moisture in them.

I'd make sure the paste was nice and juicy. He hoovers up the goldfish flakes once they've been moistened so it would be similar to that. I'm just worried I won't be able to keep up a supply of fresh leaves over the winter.
I haven't tried pear but the only bits of apple he seems to eat are the bruised bits.

Perhaps you’ll have to give in and buy a lettuce and cucumber in the winter. you can grow lettuce in a tray for quite a while, just pick the outside leaves.

I think we've been reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar too loudly and the snail is getting ideas. I saved him some bits from last night's dinner and he ate through: One slice of mushroom, one slice of tomato, one slice of red pepper and, just to make sure he didn't get a tummy ache, three nice green dandelion leaves. The only thing left was a couple of tomato seeds. Wednesday is dog biscuit night and he always enjoys that. I'm not sure how you judge portion size with snails though?

Hello, is this group still alive? Id love to join! I have always loved a slug and a snail, and am just discovering gardening as a new hobby. I am also discovering the slight upset of devoured dahlias on a wet morning... but im keen to find ways to work with these slimy stunners rather than against them
