Today's top tip: I weeded out some nettles this week and left them in the sun to dry for a few days. The snail seems to really love the dried leaves. I've just been chucking the whole nettles tips in the tank with him but apparently you can grind them up with other things like sunflower seeds and dried mealworms and make a paste for them. I'm going to try him on that later.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
Mine still prefer cucumber, I buy bags of mixed leaves but they’re choosy and leave some. I’ll try the nettles, the ones in the wild never seem to eat weeds, just your best plants. Has yours laid any eggs yet?

No eggs that I've found. I was reading a list of things these snails eat and I can see why they'd be an environmental disaster in some places. I fed him some bits of red pepper a couple of weeks ago and found pepper plants growing in the tank yesterday. He's eaten them now but I might sow some more seeds in there as easy grazing.

I hope the police don't find my stash This is my experimental snail food mix made from nettle, dandelion, a few herbs, some dried mealworms, powdered egg shell, a couple of dog biscuits, some sunflower and pumpkin seeds, and some goldfish food. All ground up in a pestle and rehydrated as needed. The snail hoovers this stuff up so I'm going to make a supply to see me through the winter. I'll have a good supply of fresh food for now but the leaves dry out well in the greenhouse in this hot weather so I'll be getting a supply sorted while I can.
