1 - the opposite to SG - I seem to start quite young but get gradually older during the day. I have got a head cold though so that may be influencing my view
2 - I have a bit of field where I make patterns with weeds.
3 - yes
4 - apparently not
5 - yes
6 - tea please. And a biscuit would be nice.
7 - I'm sure somewhere out there someone is going to have a brilliant idea that no one has thought of before but I would imagine that person is a gardener with a problem (and a flash of inspiration) not a student with a survey and no idea which way up to plant a potato.
Could I just drift off into pedantism for a moment though? 2000 years ago we were living in nice warm thatched houses, not caves. And in a couple of decades' time we'd have brick houses with plastered walls, underfloor heating and hot and cold running water. Well unless you're in Somerset - they were mostly still in caves, obviously. Even after the Romans pitched up. But the rest of us were really quite posh when Jesus was a lad.

Just had a thought, we didnt have central heating in our last 2 houses for quite a long time, not till about 2006, does that make a difference, I expect there are folk now who dont have central heating.

I know . I blame King Arthur. All that chasing round after Holy Grails with the lights off. It's taken centuries for us to get back to where the Romans left off

phillipa, we have a "fake" log burner, quite realistic, its in the conservatory now, so I have "side" lamps, and light up twigs for the "ambiance", gives you a warm glow, (mind the hot flushes do that anyway!)
These student surveys are consistently badly conceived and useless. I tend to ignore them. But I'd like to thank Philippa for her inventiveness and here are my answers to her survey.
1. How old are you ?
They keep asking me this sort of question when I go to hospital. I usually tell the nurse that I've never been good at maths, but I can give her my birth year and leave it to her to do the calculation.
Oh, it IS phillipa, I have mince pies, sherry, chocolate (will be hot!!) if anyone is interested, do you think original poster of survey is still reading our threads?
I make truffles occasionally Philippa but we have a kilo box of Belgian chocs hidden away for Xmas so I don't need to this year. I also have mincemeat, bought and home made, left over form last year so OH will get his token mince pies. Possum doesn't like them.

I think I'm going to google "troglodyte house plants" and see what I get

2. Do you have a garden ?
Yes I do and you can even pay a virtual visit to it at http://www.rezeau.org/wp-garden/en/
3. Are you fed up with pointless surveys ?
Yes, more than fed up.
4. Have you run out of patience with responding to this survey and other equally pointless ones ?
This survey (by Philippa) was a pleasure to answer. Wish we had more of that kind.
5. Is it cold where you are ?
It's coldish outside in the garden but nice and warm inside.
Might have to offer mince pies or chocolate truffles with the coffee or hot chocolate from now on Philippa. Seasonal spirit and all that.
