For peasants, the UK medieval diet was desperately boring and plain. I don't think they had rocket or Chinese mustards then, let alone in caves 2000 years ago!

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
So funny reading all your comments guys, really tickled me!!! I dont think they could have dared waste any food, but at least their caves would have looked pretty with the indoor plants not suffering from the extremes of the overhot central heating.
I'm afraid I like doing surveys so I can't resist yours
1. How old are you ?
I'm usually pretty old in the mornings but get younger through the day. On some days by midnight (after a couple of glasses of wine) I'm positively youthful.
2. Do you have a garden ?
Sort of - more of a semi-tame wilderness really
3. Are you fed up with pointless surveys ?
No - I love them!
4. Have you run out of patience with responding to this survey and other equally pointless ones ?
No, my patience is infinite (I used to be a teacher so it had to be)
5. Is it cold where you are ?
No, it's lovely and warm. I'm in the study and we have 3 computers belting out heat here.

How do you know 2000 years ago people thought they lived in a perfect world?

CHIGQ, you may consider them " useless words", but , unlike your post, they are grammatically correct.
You did better then me Hosta. I couldn't even get to the end of the post as my brain couldn't cope with it!
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

1 - Either - depends on any creaking which usually arises after a full day in the garden or shopping with Possum.
2 - yes
3 - yes
4 - yes
5 - not really. 10c today at its best cos of the breeze.
6 (FG) coffee or, if very cold, hot chocolate made with 54% choc and hot milk. Not powdered stuff. Maybe a slosh of rum if it's very cold.
7 - Give us a break! Credit us with some intelligence.
We're gardeners Philippa. We live in hope and a haze of optimism.
No. 1, depends on what mood I'm in.
