Evening, sounds a bit wild out there.

energy levels resuming after the family weekend but have had a quiet one just walked the dogs

we always have a real tree and this year there will be two! Both will need to be on tables tho as the little ones will definitely "have a go". We will have 9 adults and 4 under 4 plus the dogs who will be on constant shark patrol for wandering biscuits, dropped crisps and chocolates left unattended.

    anyone seen Punk or Fairy?

  • Nope ... not lately ... we know that Pdoc is likely to be a bit erratic in his posting, but I was wondering where Fairy has got to .......... image

    Hello everyone! image

The wellies are fabulous!!!!!! image happy to report that they are both comfy and warm!! image let's find those puddles Clari, I knew I could count on you to embrace your silly side! image

Lilyp, those sound hazardous conditions for one Christmas tree, let alone two!!!! You will have to have people posted on guard in a shift rotation system! image

Obelixx, hope the jaw ache calms down! Sounds a real drag!

BusyL, sorry to hear about your pusscat tribal turf war. Flatters had a similar situation a couple of times. He took objection to the hedgehogs unfortunately and they haven't been seen for a while. So I guess he won that one. Now we have another chancer pusscat stealing his flood in the shed. Most nights he asks to come in now but we keep food in there in case hedgehogs return or if he wants to go out. Well somebody has been taken advantage, Flatters caught them and was most displeased! All poffy, spikey and growly! Now I'm putting two bowls of food out in different places, seems to be working. Good luck with your territory dispute!

    Happy holidays Hosta!!!

Fairy!!!!! Where are you? Do you need us to send mountain rescue? Or a saint Bernard!? X

Raisingirl, hope the hound continues to make good recovery, I'm sure we can boost any flagging Christmas spirit, isnt it about time we resurrected the SHOW US YA BAUBLES thread!? image

hope everyone has a restful, warm and cosy evening

  • Advent starts this coming Sunday Wonky ... that's when Stir Up Sunday is and I'll be making your pud ... that'll be the time to resurrect your baubles thread won't it image

Thanks for the reminder about Stir Up Sunday, Dove. I had noted it in my head but it's come round so fast that I hadn't clocked that it's this weekend. I've two to make this year, with vegetarian suet for the first time. I don't do the Archers bit (sorry, is that illegal image?) but the family will all have a stir for luck.

But it's not Advent yet, is it? Stir Up Sunday is the Sunday before Advent starts. Last year Advent started in November, but this year I'm relieved it's December. It'll be yet awhile before I have any baubles to show anyone...

Spent almost the whole day revising. I really can't seem to get this stuff into my head at all. I understand it, but regurgitating it is another matter. Looking at past papers has just scared the living daylights out of me! Had a lovely hour or so getting a few jobs done in the garden that should have been done ages ago - I'm relying on the fact that it's very mild for the next few days to help me get away with it.

RG I hope you get your Christmas mojo back. Mine seems to have gone a bit AWOL too, the last couple of years. No particular reason though. Wonky's baubles might just do the trick...

I used to make a proper, but sugar free Xmas cake packed with fruit but neither of us likes marzipan or royal icing so one year I did Delia's glazed fruits and nut topping which was lovely but made it difficult to transport and, for a while, Xmas cake always got put aside till Feb and would end up coming skiing as after ski energy pack.  Then I tried her Creole Xmas cake which is just so easy and delicious and I don't have to bother with that whole feeding and maturing malarky.  Just bake it a few days before after soaking the fruit in almost indecent amounts of booze for a few days.

Working on my Xmas mojo by making the felt thingies and might attempt a patchwork table runner if I have time.

LP - your Xmas sounds hectic but fun.

I don't do Archers either LG.   Not a crime.   When do you have exams?  I'm sure you're absorbing more than you realise.

Wonky - glad the new wellies are good.  Careful - you may end up feeding all the neighbourhood strays.

Busy - hope you've arrived safely.

Hope Pdoc is doing OK and FG too.   When does Liri get back form her island escapade?

Just watching Rick Stein arrive in Mexico.  looking forward to mole recipes but sincerely hope we get no re-fried beans.  Yuk!

Obxx, the real exams are not until Feb but we have a mock next week - hence looking up past papers and scaring myself! Am absolutely loving every minute of the course and wasn't fazed by the idea of exams... until now.

Have been wondering about Fairy and Liri too. Could someone closer give them a holler? And punkdoc, if you're reading, have a comforting squeeze.

LG, Liri has to go up a hill in order to post.  Weather in that area foul just now. Had phone call tonight from relative in the town where Liri gets the ferry.

Fairy has been having a recurring problem with her wrist so it may be playing up again.

I keep meaning to say: Glad you made it to and enjoyed Kew, LP. Do your family live near there?

Ah yes, if the weather's bad Liri'll not be wanting to stand on a hill with a phone!

    Hope Fairy's okay though.
