Lovely pictures, LP... really like the swallow.
  • Any suggestions for a rat proof bird feeder?  Which style would you recommend?

A female Green Orb Weaver, who has made her home on my spuds.

Hi GD...sorry can't help re the rat proof feeder.

Just beautiful Sheps - butterfly and spider.
Re the ptarmigan - yes, I'm very lucky indeed when I'm out. Usually something grand to see.  The ptarmigan camouflage is remarkable. I caught him moving out the corner of my eye and got quite a few pix as he tried to pretend he wasn't there. They can give you a helluva fright if they lift off just when you get near!
The swallow is lovely too LP, and the blackbird pic is stunning w. edges. Pity about your moth!  :D
I think the ones with a baffle on the pole seem to be effective GD, but really not sure.
I eventually caught a blue tit performing his ablutions...

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

    Oh Sheps, so stunning!

I love the dynamic, impressionist blue tit.

Taken in MIL's garden last time I was there. Sadly only Greys in my garden.
How can you lie there and think of England

I love how casual red squirrels are about gravity.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

    Red squirrels are the dog's b***ocks  :)
Gorgeous pic doc - he/she is a very healthy looking specimen. I saw one last year when coming back from a hill in Glen Esk - nice little stretch of woodland. Didn't get a chance for a pic, but he/she had a fabulous blonde tail   :)
