dun dun dun .... drumroll please!   I think my pond is clearing.

I've added Rigid Hornwort a la Onopordum (thanks Ono) and a stocking full of Barley Straw that I gathered from the back field at harvest time.

Not sure which, or a combined attack but pics on their way.

When viewed by torchlight, there're tons of water boatmen in there.

Quick pond update: the first small, young-looking newt was spotted last night by torchlight.  We now have a water hawthorn and it looks like it might be sporting two flowers.   :D

Excellent, any idea what kind of newt?

Smooth we think, not sure if (s)he's alone at the moment.

Maybe you’ll have the pitter patter is tiny newt feet before long!

That's what we're hoping for.  I'll post some update pics when it fills out a bit.  Looks a bit glum just now but everything is waking up and made it thru the winter so all is good :)

I don’t remember everything being so brown in April before, not sure if it’s rose tinted glasses or just everything being late this year

We have had a particularly horrid Spring (IMO - not sure what the stats say?).
