Morning all.  Nice here so far!

Thanks very much for your congratulations with regard to the Park money.  I can't take any credit personally, but others have worked very hard on the bid; I anticipate working hard on path creation, bramble bashing etc.  image  I knows my place.  image

Bluebottle season has arrived!  They emerge from the wood burner this time of year, having bred, presumably, in the "organic remains" image in the jackdaws' nest in the top of the bedroom chimney, which is redundant but presumably has some connection with the one in use.  Fortunately, the flies go straight for the nearest window, which we're leaving open during the day.  There are always a few on there in the morning though, waiting to zoom out as soon as it's opened - unless the resident spider catches one for breakfast first...  image

    Have a good Friday everyone!

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Very wise Hosta ... they were saying on the radio this morning that restrictions on the train routes into the West country the roads are going to be very busy down your way this weekend image

Good morning.  No storms or rain here but we're expecting heavy cloud overnight.  Useful - not.

Been pottering with Possum and the two kittens who had a wee shrew upstairs.  Safely rescued and released while Possum distracted the kittens so now they're busy hunting where they last saw it.   Stupid think squeaked like mad when I released it in the garden.  Talk about signalling your position to the enemy!

On Tuesday I asked OH to strim all the monstrous weeds in the potager before they set seed for another 7 years.  Wednesday was golf.  Yesterday we went out.  Today he's sanding rust off the metal gates.  They won't get even a hint of primer till mid September so will need sanding again by then and in the meantime they won't be setting seed!   Doh!

Congrats Liri and team.   Busy - glad the horses have settled well.   Chicky - you'll be able to see loads in a month;  Did I mention that Oz' best chocolate makers are in Adelaide?  And fairy penguins and Hardy's wine not far away?  And fab central market?

Dove - I do hope your son's house sale goes thru quickly.  Over here there are penalties for either side going over the allotted period for processing legalities and money.  3 months in France, 4 in Belgium.  Simplifies things no end.

Hosta - stay off the roads tomorrow!   I used to think Sunday trading at SMs and so on was OK as the staff got extra pay.   Not so good if there aren't compensations but at least in Belgium if the shop is open Sunday morning it has to close Monday morning.  Not sure here in France.

Now to check my pots before making another frock for Possum.

Have a good TGIF day everyone.  Almost the weekend.

When all the trains heading this way have to go through Dawlish, that'll always be the case.

No £900,000,000 spent on a railway station in these parts.

I've just had to order a drive belt for the mower. 15 minutes from finishing the grass last night and it went ping.

Called the dealership this morning " Yeah, they've got one in Germany so you can pick it up here at 9am tomorrow"

    Fingers crossed.

Nor on motorways to ease port congestion in East Anglia.  Stupid really when the EU funds stuff like that all over the place - improved road links from central Europe so goods ca get out through French Atlantic ports, regional airports and motorways all over Spain to open up industry and commerce and tourism.   No idea why the UK never cottoned on to milking those subsidies...............

    Sorry Obs, our postings overlapped.

Those on older contracts get "overtime" for Sunday at Waitrose, but new Partners don't. I think they call it " industry standard" .

I'm working on Sunday so should be out and about .

On Monday we're heading to a garden centre which has " 25% off everything" this weekend. ( Merry Harriers near Clovelly if that's anywhere near you Raisingirl)

Only going for spring bulbs, honest. image I won't even be looking at herbaceous stuff which can be split .No Sir, not me. image

Hostas?? nope , won't be looking at those either.
