Fairy, seriously didn't know there was a really quite substantial stream beneath all that! image may need waders not wellies! The mud was quite "clingy" too and not easy to extract yourself! image

That looks a good place for a holiday, Yvie. I hope you are enjoying yourself.

I expect Dove was over excited and they set out early. She was up at 5am! Wonder when we'll hear from them.

Done the shopping for the BBQ and the farmer came and mowed up the brambles in the paddocks. New horsey seems to have settled in well.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

    Fun, isn't it Wonks?  image

When I was enlarging the pond last week, the biggest problem was getting the sticky, wet clay off the spade. When you shook it, you were lucky if a handful came off into the pile. As for the wellies....image

At my last house there was a second pond fed from the first one, but it was so overgrown, you couldn't see it. It just looked like a clump of flag Iris. There was quite a lot of that nearby because there was a natural spring (which fed the ponds) and a lot of the ground was permanently damp. My then partner discovered it wasn't just a random bit of Iris when he sank into it...

With hindsight, it's a pity it was so shallow.....image

Hope the weather's good for your 'burning' GWRS image

Did they wave on the way past?

    See original post

Well it was either them waving or a butterfly flapping it's wings in Brazil image Hope you have a lovely visit

Yvie - that hotel looks fabulous image

Fairy image. I thought you were a sweet and kind fairy, not a vindictive little sprite image image

Pat - glad you're enjoying the new pencils. I've got a box of those somewhere. I gave them to Mum when she went into hospital - she used them a few times, but they found their way back to me again after she died, along with a crate - and I do mean a crate - of other art materials. I'll get time one of these days to have a rootle.

Wonkywomble - I've got nettles taller than me in my garden. I haven't yet found a way to pull them out without getting nettle bits down the back of my shirt as they collapse on my head image. Any suggestions on where my technique is wrong gratefully received.....

Large nettles , we had some of those when we got our allotment , the trick is to cut them in half with shears first , then pull them up ?Best of luckimage

Ah, you're back... I don't know what happened, but I couldn't open any threads on the forum for quite a while.

A long-lost stream is quite a find, Wonky!  At least you know where it is now, so you're a bit more prepared for getting stuck in the mud.  image

I got an incinerator delivered today.  Well, I say delivered... Yodel's small van was out of action, so they sent their Sprinter; luckily the driver knew the town, so didn't attempt to drive down our road.  Instead he rang me from the bottom of the 51 steps, and OH and I man-handled the giant box up the steps ourselves.  Good exercise, I suppose...  It's a recycled tomato paste drum, so rather thicker steel than your usual flimsy affair - hopefully it'll last a few years.  I haven't had a good bonfire for years; this is cheating a bit, but better than nothing for a closet pyromaniac...  image

Yvie, that looks a great holiday destination!  Hope you're having a great time.  image

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

oooh. Do they do one in, er, generous sizes I wonder?

Better hope I don't find an unexpected stream though. It's one thing getting your wellies stuck. I would sink without trace in that image

Recentry bought a burning dust bin from  a Lidl outlet for £7-50 ,a bargain ,  get through them at the allotment , in fact having a burn up tomorrow image

Can't beat a good burning Liri - did you do that  'to me, to you' routine when you went up the steps with it?  image

I got one of those firepit thingies which doubles as a barbecue, but it's tricky to have a burning because there's always a breeze (or more) and the smoke heads towards the neighbour's house. I might have to ask her to move...image
