Autumn has arrived, Season of mists, mellow fruitfulness ... and the Nezara viridula. Here is a Final instar nymph (5th instar) found in the garden today.
Scaeva pyrastri, the Pied Hoverfly. A migrant that is not permanently resident in Britain, and which arrives in variable numbers each year, rather like Painted Ladies.
Very large dragonfly laying eggs on my iris (for the interest, not the photography skills!). Looks like I'll have some new predators in my pond soon competing with the great diving beetles!
