Went to Gardeners World show yesterday a good day out but I felt there was less choice of plants. I got a pretty eucalyptus and a new pale green smoke bush but spent most of my money in the Good Foof show! The outside plant sales were poor, same plants on every stall salvias and alliums and poppies and grasses!

  • How irksome that they don't have posh parking spaces available!

We don't have a shopping list, we always just go for a bimble. Each year we say we won't go as it is slowly getting worse (as Debs64 suggests above) but we get tempted by the offers and the fact that it is a day out.

Right now I am working pretty much seven days a week and have managed to get a locum to cover this weekend, giving me my first weekend off in a month (actually my first day too) so I intend to enjoy it!

We have "any day" tickets, but as we went to Chatsworth,  we're in two minds as we went last year, and every year we say not again. Then the ticket offers come out in late winter and get me every time!. However we may go on Sunday although forecast is "scorchio" and I hate the heat image. We went to the very first one 25 years ago - it's certainly changed a bit since then ! I'm looking forward to seeing it on GW tonight.

I went on Thursday and enjoyed it more than Chatsworth. I found a lot more interesting plants on sale  than at Chatsworth.

I bought  some superb allium bulbs and the sales tents had lots of other interesting stuff, as my bank balance will show. Less expensive show Gardens than Chatsworth and it was very busy by the afternoon.

Debs - I am literally wetting myself with laughter here - that really is a Freudian slip and a half!!

Having brought my daughters up in Wales, a Foof meant something very different. Check the Urban dictionary if in doubt!

    You have made my day!

Suz, my grandaughters always use the word froof, very similar LOL.

Nice to hear from you Steve.  Didn't go to Gardener's World this year, went to Chelsea instead.  Went a few years ago and really enjoyed it.  Think I might try Chatsworth next year.

From Wales, I can also confirm that the foof goof is utterly hilarious! I have no idea where the word originates from but it's one of the best I think.

I will be watching GW later so better not read any more on the forum incase the winner of the Jubilee plant is discussed!

My garden and I live in South Wales.

I was taken to gardeners world today by a client and really enjoyed it.   We had front row seats for Monty D's talk which was lovely. Wish it had been twice as long! Lots of good advice though and real encouragement to embrace change in a garden and don't be downhearted by failures.

Another big difference is that I was kindly given a VIP parking space - brilliant not to have to tramp back to the main car parks at the end of the day.

It was really spacious, not over crowded and the plant displays were really lovely. Left with tonnes of ideas.  Got to say, I enjoyed it much more than my disastrous trip to Chatsworth.

  • I tried to book one of the posh spaces and there were none left!
